THE MEAT BLEND
2 Links sweet italian sausage
.25 lb. ground beef
half a med bell pepper chopped finely
half a med onion finely chopped
2-3 cloves garlic minced
THE SAUCE
1 Jar marinera
1 Jar traditional spaghetti sauce
1 tablespoon(s) sugar
2 tablespoon(s) rice vinegar (its mild)
2 half jar(s) water to rinse out the sauces
CHEESES
2 cup(s) bag of shredded mozzerella provolone mix
2 cup(s) bag of chredded medium or sharp cheddar
16 ounce(s) container of cottage
1 package(s) lasagna al-dente

Steps:

  • Cut the casings off your sweet sausage and add to the pot along with the ground beef, onions and bell peppers.. allow to cook don't till veggies are tender and the meat is done. Make sure to beat this meat till its very very small grains.. There shouldn't be much grease to drain so don't drain you're losing your veggie flavors next add the minced garlic and allow to cook for 30- 1 minute.
  • Now you add the 2 sauces to the meat. and rinse the jars half way with water to get remaining sauce add to pot. i allow mine to simmer a bit 1 hour or so before i add the sugar and Vinegar and allow to cook another 30 minutes. now's a good time to taste the sauce.. you should be happy!
  • your lasagna should be cooked to Al-dente rest it it cool water so they wont stick and drain before putting it together. Nows the time to preheat the oven to 350
  • Building the lasagna, add a layer of meat sauce to the bottom , then a layer of lasagna. the tricky part is adding the cottage cheese, i use a large spoon and i shake by tapping the side of my hand so it drops off in bits over the noodles... don't want to clump it... then i add the mozzarella prov. blend, a thin layer.. as well as a thin layer of Cheddar.. then repeat...
  • you will have more meat sauce and lasagna than a 11X13 will hold.. make a second pan about a 9X9 will do.. i also had plenty of cheese.. Place in a 350 degree oven for 30-45 till cheeses are melted.
