Condiment Essentials: Andy's All-Round Sauce image

I call this an "All-Round" sauce because you can use it on so many items. For example, a nice beef roast, or pork tenderloin, brush over chicken, or use as a sauce for chicken wings. My two favorite ways to use this sauce would be drizzled on some braised pork, or in a pot of baked beans. Easy/peasy to make and tastes...

PLAN/PURCHASE
3/4 c ketchup, homemade, or organic, if possible
1/4 c coconut sugar
1/4 c fresh clover honey
2 Tbsp bbq sauce, your choice
2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp dehydrated onions, ground to a powder
1 tsp tamari sauce, or liquid aminos
1/8 tsp white pepper, freshly ground

Steps:

  • 1. PREP/PREPARE
  • 2. You will need a medium-size saucepan to make this recipe.

  • 4. No coconut sugar - Sub brown sugar. No apple-cider vinegar - Sub white or rice vinegar. No dehydrated onions - Sub 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder (not onion salt). No tamari sauce or liquid aminos - Sub soy sauce, low sodium, if you have it.
  • 5. Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • 6. Add all the ingredients to a saucepan over medium heat.
  • 7. Slowly bring up to a simmer, then simmer for one minute, and take off the heat.
  • 8. When cool, store in a non-reactive container (glass jar), and place in the fridge until needed.
  • 9. PLATE/PRESENT
  • 10. Use as a condiment, and experiment on what you like it on best. Enjoy.
