~ Comforting Kielbasa Skillet ~ Cassies image

This easy meal is one of my families all time favorites. My Gram used to make something very similar, but never got her measurements, so I just wing it. It's a great meal for when you are in a hurry, yet want something awesome and flavorful. My husband would eat this everyday if I'd make it. Enjoy!

1/2 lb bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled - reserve drippings
1 medium head of cabbage rough chopped
2 large garlic, cloves, minced
1 tsp tony chacheres cajun seasoning or equivalent
1 large onion, chopped
1 jalapeno, minced
1 lb kielbasa - sliced
1/2 c beef broth or chicken broth
2 Tbsp brown sugar
red pepper flakes - to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp, remove from skillet to cool, then chop or crumble. Leave Drippings in skillet. In the same skillet,over medium heat add onion, garlic, pepper, seasoning, cabbage and kielbasa. Cover and cook for 7 minutes. With a spatula, flip mixture to the other side. Add broth and brown sugar. Cover and cook for another 8 - 10 minutes or until cabbage is cooked and starting to caramelize.
  • 2. I then plate and sprinkle with red pepper flakes and bacon. Scrumptious!
