I probably copied this recipe from a box of Betty Crocker potatoes back in the day. It was always a hit with my family and I'm sure it will be with yours as well.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 pkg au gratin potato mix
2 c water
2/3 c milk
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, sliced or chopped, as you prefer
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
2 medium tomatoes, sliced
4 oz cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the potatoes and sauce packet from the potato mix with the water and milk in a 2-qt. casserole dish. Bake uncovered until potatoes are tender, 30 to 35 minutes at 400 degrees. Cool 15 minutes.
  • 2. Cook ground beef and onion together in skillet; drain. Stir in worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and salt.
  • 3. Layer over potatoes first the tomatoes, then the beef mixture, then the cheese. Bake at 400 degrees until cheese is melted and potatoes are bubbly, about 10-15 minutes.
