California Oven-Fried Chicken image

This is so easy and delicious, I have made it many times over the years. Recipe came from a woman at the First Congregational Church in NH So easy I am sure many of you have made it as well. In this picture you can see I just made two breast for my husband and myself. I have cut up a whole chicken and baked the pieces.

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 frying chicken, cut into 8 pieces
1 stick melted butter
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp paprika
1/8 tsp thyme
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 c dry bread crumbs or finely crushed cornflakes
I HAVE USED CRUSHED FRENCH FRIED ONIONS CRUSHED IN WITH THE BREAD CRUMBS

Steps:

  • 1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Dip the chicken pieces in the melted butter, then shake them in a paper bag containing the garlic powder, paprika, thyme, salt, and crumbs or cornflakes.
  • 2. 2. Place the chicken skin side up in a lightly greased 9x13" baking dish, and bake for 50 minutes or until done.
  • 3. Another great idea with this recipe is we take it to the beach or a picnic, with cole slaw or potato salad !!
