Cajun Rib-Eye Steak image

This sounds yummy! Begin marinating the steaks a day ahead of time for best results. From the RSVP section of Bon Appetit January 1998 from The Post House at The Lowell Hotel, New York, NY.

1 c vegetable oil
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
3 rib eye steaks, 16-ounces each
1 Tbsp paprika
1 1/2 tsp cayenne
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground white pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Combine oil, sliced onion, garlic powder and 1 tablespoon black pepper in 13- by 9- by 2-inch glass baking dish.
  • 2. Add steaks to marinade, turning to coat.
  • 3. Spoon half of sliced onion evenly over steaks. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • 4. Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat) or preheat broiler.
  • 5. Remove steaks from marinade.
  • 6. Combine paprika, cayenne, salt, white pepper and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper in small bowl.
  • 7. Sprinkle each side of each steak with 1 teaspoon spice mixture.
  • 8. Grill or broil steaks until cooked through, about 8 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  • 9. Cut each steak in half. Divide steaks among plates; serve.
