Cabbage Roll Casserole image

The casserole turned out great and was much easier than sitting there and rolling each leaf with meat & rice. The result was great without all the work.

Number Of Ingredients 11

8 c chopped cabbage
1 c cooked or instant rice
1 Tbsp dry minced onion
1 lb lean ground beef
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp black pepper
15 oz can tomato sauce
1/2 c water
2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Steam cabbage for a few minutes. Drain
  • 2. In bowl, combine cooked ot instant rice, onion, beef, salt & pepper.
  • 3. In greased casserole dish, place half of cabbage.
  • 4. Press all of meat mixture then top with remaining cabbage.
  • 5. In small bowl, combine water, tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon & Worcestershire sauce. Pour over cabbage. Sprinkle with salt & pepper
  • 6. Cover with foil & bake until meat is done & cabbage is tender
