This is an unusual recipe for a cabbage dish. Whenever I serve it to guests, they always compliment the cook.

Steps:
- 1. Cook cabbage for seven minutes. Drain and save the water.
- 2. Melt butter and blend into it the flour and add the salt. Gradually add milk and 3/4 cup water from the cabbage. Stir constantly until the sauce boils and thickens.
- 3. Place a layer of cabbage in a buttered casserole, top with part of the sauce. Sprinkle with the cheese. Repeat with all the ingredients ending with the cheese.
- 4. Mix bread crumbs with the remaining butter and sprinkle over the casserole. Bake in 350* oven 20 - 25 minutes.
