Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce image

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 pound Day old Challah bread
5 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons dark rum
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups white chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups golden raisins
1 batch Rum Sauce
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/3 cup heavy cream
1 quart heavy cream
3 tablespoons dark rum

Steps:

  • whisk eggs, 1 quart cream, both sugars, rum, vanilla, cinnamon. Stir in cubed Challah, chips and raisins. Set aside for 1 hour. Stir twice.
  • Heat oven to 350, place bread mixture in a 13 x 9" baking pan.
  • Cover with foil, bake until golden brown, about 30 minutes. Let cool.
  • For Rum Sauce - Melt butter, add sugars, whisking constantly until dissolved.
  • Add cream, heat to boil. Remove from heat and stir in rum.
  • Cut pudding into pieces and top with rum sauce.
