Number Of Ingredients 9

one 8-9 inch pastry shell
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup chopped black walnuts
1/8 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup scalded milk
3 tbs cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbs melted butter

Steps:

  • 1. Combine sugar, butter, cornstarch and salt. Add milk slowly, stirring constantly. Cook over hot water until thick and smooth.
  • 2. Add slightly beaten egg yolk.Cook 1 minute, add nuts and flavoring. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • 3. Pour into baked pastry shell and bake in moderate to hot oven, 375-400 till filling is firm. Watch carefully.
