Banana Bread image

This banana bread is very easy and quick to prepare. A friend of my mother's gave me the recipe. I prefer it without the nuts, but it's entirely up to you. I love the sugar on top; it gives it a nice extra sweetness.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 large ripe bananas
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Add eggs one at a time.
  • Sift flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture.
  • Mixing well, fold in mashed bananas, vanilla and nuts.
  • Pour into loaf pan.
  • Top with a sprinkling of granulated sugar.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes.
