Favorite recipe from Judy. These are the BEST. The secret to a crisp bottom crust is the crushed cornflakes!! Don't forget the coffee!

Steps:
- Sift together flour and salt. Cut in shortening until crumbly.
- Combine milk and egg yolk. Stir into flour mixture until evenly moistened. (Using your hands works best).
- Divide dough almost in half. Roll out large half, place in 10 x 15 baking pan.
- Press dough up on sides of pan, sprinkle with crushed cornflakes.
- Arrange sliced apples over the top of the crushed cornflakes.
- combine sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over apples.
- Roll out other half of dough to fit on top of apples.
- Moisten edges of dough with water, seal. *Make a batch and a half of the dough to make sure you have enough to seal.
- Spread egg white over crust. Bake at 375 degrees for one hour or until golden brown. ( Usually about 50 minutes).
- Combine powdered sugar, water and vanilla for glaze. Drizzle over bars while warm. Cut and enjoy!
