Everyone in my family loves this cake; it always gets gobbled up! You can frost it with either cream cheese or vanilla frosting (either store-bought or your favorite recipe; I used store-bought vanllia). Number Of Ingredients 12

2 c brown sugar
1/2 c butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp baking soda
1 c sour milk* (see my notes)
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • 2. Cream sugar and butter or margarine together until fluffy; add eggs and beat until light.
  • 3. Sift together all dry ingredients, then add them alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture, beating well after each addition; mix in the vanilla.
  • 4. Pour batter into a greased 9 X 13-inch baking pan (I used nonstick cooking spray); bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
