ALMOND PUFF PASTRY image

Base:
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup flour
2 tbsp water
cut marg. into flour, sprinkle with water, mix w/fork make a ball and divide into half. Pat into 2 rectangular bases about 1/2" thick. (this dough will be quite wet but will not stick to your fingers)
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup water
heat to rolling boil over med heat, remove from heat and stir in
1 cup flour
return to stove over low heat and stir until ball forms,
about 1 minute
remove from heat and beat in 3 eggs and 1 tsp almond extract, beat until smooth.
Spread over bases
Bake 350 for approx. 25 mins.
Glaze:
1-1/2 cups icing sugar
2 tbsp softened butter
1 tsp almond extract
2 tbsp warm water
mix until smooth
spread icing over cooled pastry
top w/silvered almonds
