Almond Bars / Cake image

This is a quick and easy recipe that is always a hit and it calls for common ingredients that most cupboards already contain. I got the recipe from a Lunds & Byerlys cookbook that was published several years ago. I serve it plain or it is especially good with whipped cream. I hope you like it.

Number Of Ingredients 12

CREAM TOGETHER:
2 cup(s) sugar
1 cup(s) butter - softened
4 - eggs -- (i always use large or jumbo eggs)
2 teaspoon(s) almond extract
BEAT IN:
2 cup(s) all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1/8 teaspoon(s) salt
SPREAD IN 9 X 13 PREPARED PAN (BATTER IS SUPPOSED TO BE THICK) THEN, IN A SMALL BOWL COMBINE:
1/2 cup(s) sliced or slivered almonds
1 1/2 tablespoon(s) sugar

Steps:

  • Before baking, sprinkle with almond and sugar mix.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done by wooden pick tester.
