Alabama Baked Beans image

8 slices Bacon, chopped
1 Yellow onion, medium, chopped
3/4 cup Ketchup
1/3 cup Molasses
1/2 cup Tomato sauce
1/2 cup Dark brown sugar
1/4 cup Apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Adobo sauce
1 teaspoon Kosher salt
1 teaspoon Coarsely ground black pepper
2 cans 15 oz. navy (northern, white, black, kidney, red or mix of) beans, drained and rinsed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325.
  • Cook and stir bacon in large oven-safe pan over medium-high heat, until crisp, about 7 min.
  • Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes more.
  • Stir in the ketchup, molasses, tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire, mustard, adobo sauce, salt, and pepper and mix well. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 min.
  • Stir in the beans until well coated, cover, and bake in the oven for 1 hr. Bigger beans need an additional 1/2 hr.
  • Remove the lid and bake 15 min. more.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool 10 min. before serving.
