Classic Oreo Balls get a minty twist that's perfect for the holiday season! A base of Oreos, cream cheese, salt, peppermint extract is processed together and rolled into balls before being dipped in dark chocolate! 14 ounce package Oreos (36 regular Oreos)
8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
¼ teaspoon salt
10 ounces chocolate melting wafers
Crushed peppermint pieces

Steps:

  • Add the Oreos to a food processor and pulse until a fine crumb forms.
  • Add in the cream cheese, peppermint extract, and salt, then pulse until fully combined. The mixture will be thick and sticky.
  • Use a medium cookie scoop to portion out the mixture and roll into balls with your hands. Place the balls on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and chill them in the refrigerator for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Melt the melting wafers in a small bowl at 30-second intervals, stirring between each one, until fully melted.
  • Use a spoon and fork to dip and coat the balls, then transfer back to the parchment paper to set completely.
  • Top with sprinkles or crushed peppermint pieces before the chocolate sets.

I have made these every year as one of many Christmas treats. My family really loves them, it wouldn't be Christmas without them! When you dip, tap the fork on the edge of the pan to shake off excess. Slide the patty onto waxed paper -- you can use the fork to make a little swirl on the top to make it pretty.

¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
1 ½ teaspoons peppermint extract
4 cups confectioners' sugar
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 teaspoons shortening

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine condensed milk and peppermint extract. Beat in enough confectioners' sugar, a little at a time, to form a stiff dough that is no longer sticky. Form into 1 inch balls, then place on waxed paper and flatten with fingers to form patties. Let patties dry at room temperature two hours, turning once.
  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate with shortening, stirring often. Remove from heat. Dip patties, one at a time, into chocolate by laying them on the tines of a fork and lowering the fork into the liquid. Let cool on waxed paper until set.

3-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
3 tablespoons butter, softened
2 to 3 teaspoons peppermint extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup evaporated milk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first 4 ingredients. Add milk and mix well. Roll into 1-in. balls and place on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet. Flatten with a glass to 1/4-in. thickness. Cover and freeze for 30 minutes. , Microwave chocolate chips and shortening on high until melted; stir until smooth. Dip patties, allowing excess to drip off. Place on waxed paper; let stand until set.
