Steps:

  • Pick your favorite recipe.
  • Cook your pasta until al dente.
  • Make your quick pasta sauce or pasta dressing.
  • Add your pasta to the sauce and toss well to combine.
  • Serve with a drizzle of olive oil and freshly ground pepper if you like.

Easy and suprisingly good. Not sure where the basic recipe idea came from, but it has been a "no time to cook" favorite of my family for a long time. This works well without the ricotta, but better with. The spicy hot links are the key ingredient. We have made this with hot Italian sausage, but the unique "personality" of the dish is altered. It also takes time to cook the the Italian sausage before adding to the sauce. The hot links can be found in the packaged meat section of the grocery store. More info on the hot links can be found on the Hillshire Farm web site (good recipe source). HINT:The hot links can be cubed and frozen in good zip lock bags so they are ready for those "unexpected guests for dinner" situations.

1 lb pasta, your choice we like ziti
14 ounces beef hot links sausage, hillshire farm makes a good one
10 ounces marinara sauce, your favorite
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated
1/4 cup ricotta cheese

Steps:

  • Prepare pasta per package instructions.
  • Meanwhile, cube hot links into 1/4" pieces.
  • Place marinara sauce and hot links in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Add ricotta and mix.
  • Simmer another 2 minutes.
  • Serve over hot pasta with parmesan on the side.
  • Note: We like lots of sausage...you can adjust amount down if desired. Also time does not include dicing sausage. We keep diced sausage on hand.

1-ounce olive oil
4 hot links, all beef, cut in 6 bias slices
20 (21/25 shrimp), deveined, shelled and butterflied
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup Chipotle Sauce, recipe follows
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pound cooked penne pasta
1/2 cup Parmesan, grated plus more for serving
1 tablespoon diced Roma tomato
1 tablespoon diced scallion
1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce
3/4 cup canola oil
1/3 cup lemon juice
3/4-ounce Dijon mustard
1 to 2 chipotle peppers in adobo
3/4-ounce red chili flakes
1/3 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/3 teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • In saute pan over high heat, add olive oil and hot links. Sear links until browned. Add the shrimp and cook until pink. Lower heat to medium. Then add cream, 3/4 of the Chipotle Sauce, salt and pepper. Add cooked pasta and the cheese. Toss to combine.
  • Serve in pasta bowl and garnish with diced tomato, scallions, more sauce, if desired, and grated Parmesan.
  • Combine all ingredients in blender, puree, cover and refrigerate.

This recipe is from Food Network's Guy Feiri. I had this at his restaurant, Johnny Garlic's and loved it. I made it at home last night and it tasted exactly the same! It is spicey! I only put in 1 1/2 peppers and it was not as spicey as it was at the restaurant, but perfect. It is an easy recipe to make!

4 Louisiana hot link sausages, all beef, cut in 6 bias slices
20 raw shrimp, deveined and shelled
2 cups heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 lb cooked penne pasta
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated plus more for serving
1 tablespoon diced roma tomato
1 tablespoon diced scallion
1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
3/4 cup canola oil
1/3 cup lemon juice
3/4 ounce Dijon mustard
1 -2 chipotle chile in adobo
3/4 ounce red chili pepper flakes
1/3 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/3 teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Make the Chipotle Sauce first. Combine all ingredients in blender, puree, cover and refrigerate.
  • In saute pan over high heat, add olive oil and hot links. Sear links until browned.
  • Add the shrimp and cook until pink. Lower heat to medium.
  • Add cream, 3/4 of the Chipotle Sauce, salt and pepper.
  • Add cooked pasta and the cheese. Toss to combine.
