Number Of Ingredients 9

3 cups water
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup ground flaxseed
1/2 cup 2% milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon molasses
Optional: Sliced almonds, whole milk and additional molasses

Steps:

  • In a 3-qt. slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until liquid is absorbed and oatmeal is tender. If desired, top with sliced almonds, whole milk and additional molasses.

Steps:

  • To make a jar, just combine 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed, 2/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup plain yogurt, 2 teaspoons brown sugar or maple syrup and a pinch each of salt and cinnamon in a small jar. Add your mix-ins (see below for some of our favorites), seal the jar and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, just open the jar, stir and add toppings.
  • Mix-ins: 1/2 teaspoon orange zest and 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Toppings: chopped mango and pomegranate seeds
  • Mix-ins: 1 tablespoon sweetened cocoa powder and 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • Toppings: chopped hazelnuts and chocolate
  • Mix-ins: 1/4 cup freeze-dried strawberries (crushed) and 1/2 chopped banana
  • Toppings: sliced strawberries
