CHRISTMAS PUDDING SAUCE image

½ cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
1/8 tsp salt
1 Tbsp butter
1¼ Tbsp flour
1 cup boiling water
½ tsp vanilla
1-2 Tbsp brandy, rum or sherry

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, flour, salt in a saucepan. Gradually add boiling water, stirring constantly. Cook over a low heat until the sauce is thick and smooth; about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add butter, vanilla, and spirits.
