I got this recipe off an email list years ago. My family really enjoys this. This freezes really well.

6 skinless chicken drumsticks, with thighs attached skinless
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Place chicken crock pot.
  • In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and tomato sauce.
  • Pour sauce over chicken. Cover and cook on low for about 5 hours or until chicken is tender.
  • Remove to a plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • To Freeze: Cool, bag, label and freeze(package sesame seeds separate and add when reheating).
  • To Serve: Warm in microwave to desired temperature and top with the sesame seeds.
  • Note: To toast sesame seeds: Preheat oven to 350°. Spread sesame seeds in a 9-inch pie or cake pan. Toast about 5 minutes or until golden. Or toast seeds in a dry skillet over low heat 3 or 4 minutes.

Simply throw everything in the crockpot for a quick and easy, no-fuss, family-friendly meal!

1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 green onion, thinly sliced for garnish
Sesame seeds, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine onion, garlic, honey, soy sauce, ketchup, vegetable oil and red pepper. Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper, to taste. Place chicken thighs into a slow cooker. Add honey mixture and gently toss to combine. Cover and cook on low heat for 3 hours and 30 minutes. Remove chicken thighs from the slow cooker and shred the chicken before returning to the pot with the juices. Cover and keep warm for an additional 30 minutes. Serve immediately, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

The theory is you dump this in a bag and freeze to pull out later. There are many variations which I will post separately but it's amazingly easy to make these up and have a different "dump" chicken every week!

1/2 cup beer
3 tablespoons sesame seeds
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 1/2 lbs chicken pieces (4-6 pieces)

Steps:

  • For immediate cooking: Pre-heat oven to 350°F Place all ingredients into a large baking dish, turn chicken to coat.
  • Bake until chicken juices run clear (45-60 minutes for chicken pieces, or 20-30 minutes for chicken breasts).
  • For freezing: Place all ingredients into a 1 Gallon freezer bag.
  • Lay flat in freezer.
  • To thaw and cook: Take the bag out of the freezer the night before, make sure the baggie is completely closed.
  • Place the bag in the refrigerator to thaw.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F Empty the contents of the bag into a large baking dish and bake until the juices run clear (45-60 minutes for chicken pieces, or 20-30 minutes for chicken breasts).

I found this on the Six Sisters' blog and had to try it. I can never get the sauce to thicken in the crock pot so I put the juices in a separate pan, add the cornstarch and cook it on the stove but I posted as it was written.

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (thighs would be fine too)
salt and pepper
1 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup diced onion
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (could also use olive oil or canola oil)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
4 teaspoons cornstarch (dissolved in 6 Tablespoons water)
sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Season both sides of chicken with lightly with salt and pepper, put into crock pot.
  • In a small bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, onion, ketchup, oil, garlic and pepper flakes. Pour over chicken.
  • Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours, or just until chicken is cooked through.
  • Remove chicken from crock pot, leave sauce.
  • Dissolve 4 teaspoons of cornstarch in 6 tablespoons of water and pour into crock pot. Stir to combine with sauce.
  • Replace lid and cook sauce on high for ten more minutes or until slightly thickened.
  • Cut chicken into bite size pieces, then return to pot and toss with sauce before serving.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice or noodles.
  • You can also sprinkle more red pepper flakes on top if you want more heat.

1 ½ pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
½ cup honey
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
½ teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons water
sesame seeds, or to taste

Steps:

  • Spread chicken into the crock of a slow cooker.
  • Stir honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced onion, vegetable oil, and garlic powder together in a bowl; pour over the chicken.
  • Cook on Low until the chicken is tender, 3 to 4 hours.
  • Remove chicken from the sauce in the slow cooker to a cutting board. Stir water and cornstarch together to dissolve cornstarch completely; pour into the sauce in the slow cooker until smooth.
  • Cook on High until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes.
  • Cut chicken into bite-size pieces and stir into the sauce. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the chicken and sauce mixture.
