Number Of Ingredients 18

1 1/2 cups butter
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup chopped fresh garlic
2 bay leaves
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
12 ounces beer, of choice
1 sliced lemon
1 lemon, for wedges to serve
3 lbs jumbo gulf shrimp (whole, heads on)
3 scallions, cleaned, cut on biased end to end, save green part to garnish

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • 2. Combine all ingredients except shrimp, in a large oven proof skillet (preferably cast iron).
  • 3. Heat on low heat until butter is melted, add all liquid and dry ingredients.
  • 4. Simmer about 10 minutes.
  • 5. Taste, add salt & pepper if needed.
  • 6. Add Shrimp to liquid.
  • 7. Place sliced lemon atop the shrimp.
  • 8. Bake 20 minutes, tossing the shrimp every 5 minutes.
  • 9. Serve in a bowl, garnish with scallions, lemon wedges and dont forget French bread for dipping!

2 stick(s) margarine (not butter)
3 tablespoon(s) each olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, fresh basil
2 tablespoon(s) sweet paprika
1 teaspoon(s) louisiana hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon(s) black pepper
1/4 cup(s) fresh parsley chopped
1/3 cup(s) chopped scallions
1 pound(s) head on shrimp deveined not peeled
crusty french bread for dipping

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a skillet except shrimp and bread. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer. Lay the shrimp in the sauce side by side not on top of each other. If you have to work in batches do that.
  • Cook the shrimp on both sides for about 4 minutes each side.
  • Serve the shrimp with the sauce and french bread to mop up all that delicious sauce
