Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta image

*You can substitute the shrimp with chicken, if desired. When it is just my husband and myself eating, I cut the shrimp ingredients in half, but use the full recipe of sauce because we like it a little more saucy than the original recipe makes it.

1 lb uncooked spaghetti (or pasta of your choice)
1 1/2 lb raw medium shrimp, peeled and deveined*
1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
3 clove garlic, minced
1 Tbsp paprika
1 Tbsp fresh parsley, minced
black pepper, to taste
FOR THE SAUCE
1/2 c mayonnaise (no substitutions)
1/2 c thai sweet chili sauce (in the asian aisle)
2 clove garlic, minced
2 Tbsp lime juice
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper, or to taste
1 1/2 tsp onion powder

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all of the sauce ingredients in a large bowl and set aside.
  • 2. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  • 3. Place uncooked shrimp (or chicken) in a medium bowl; add the paprika, 3 cloves of garlic and pepper.
  • 4. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the coated shrimp (or chicken). Cook, stirring constantly, until shrimp is opaque or chicken, if using, is no longer pink, about 10 minutes.
  • 5. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • 6. In a large serving bowl, combine the pasta, shrimp/chicken, and sauce mixture. Toss well to coat.
