3 eggs, beaten
1 ½ cups milk
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
8 slices French bread
8 ounces honey ham, chopped
8 ounces smoked turkey breast, chopped
12 slices Swiss cheese

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat together eggs and milk. Stir in cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet to medium heat. Dip the bread slices in the egg mixture, place in the skillet and cook until lightly brown on both sides.
  • Remove bread from skillet. Layer four slices of bread with a slice of Swiss cheese, ham, Swiss cheese, turkey and Swiss cheese again. Cover with remaining four bread slices. Return sandwiches to skillet; grill until cheese has melted and bread has browned. Serve hot.

4 (1/3-inch-thick) slices egg bread
2 1/2 tablespoons whole grain Dijon mustard, divided
4 thin slices aged white cheddar cheese (cut to size of bread), divided
4 thin slices smoked turkey
4 thin slices smoked ham
4 leaves mustard greens (trimmed to size of bread)
2 large eggs
3 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Place 2 bread slices on work surface. Spread each with 1 tablespoon mustard. Top each with 1 cheese slice, 2 turkey slices, 2 ham slices, 2 leaves mustard greens, another cheese slice, and bread.
  • Beat eggs and remaining 1/2 tablespoon mustard in pie dish to blend. Melt butter in large skillet over medium-low heat. Dip both sides of sandwiches into egg mixture. Place in skillet. Cover and cook until bottoms are golden, about 5 minutes. Turn sandwiches over. Cover; cook until golden and cheese is melted, about 4 minutes longer. Transfer sandwiches to plates; cut into quarters.

8 slices sourdough bread
2 tablespoons honey mustard
½ pound sliced deli ham
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 eggs, beaten
¼ cup milk
⅛ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

  • Spread one side of 4 bread slices with mustard. Top remaining 4 slices with ham. Combine mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses and mix together; sprinkle mixture evenly over ham and close sandwiches, mustard side down.
  • In a shallow dish or bowl combine the eggs, milk and nutmeg and mix well. Melt butter in a large skillet or on a griddle over medium heat. Dip each sandwich in egg mixture, turning to coat. Let excess egg mixture drip into dish or bowl, and place sandwiches in hot skillet. Cook until golden brown and cheese is melted.

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, 2 turns of the pan
4 cloves garlic, chopped
3 ribs celery with greens, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
1 fresh bay leaf or 1 large dried bay leaf
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
Four 15-ounce cans black beans
2 to 3 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons hot sauce
2 tablespoons ground cumin, a couple of palmfuls
1 1/2 teaspoons ground coriander, 1/3 palmful
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 cups chicken or vegetable stock
One 15-ounce can diced tomatoes, diced tomatoes with peppers and onions, or stewed tomatoes
1/2 lime, juiced
8 slices white sandwich bread
1/2 cup hot pepper jelly or chili sauce, tomatillo or tomato salsa, taco sauce - whatever you have on hand
8 slices baked honey ham, from the deli counter
8 slices pepper jack cheese, from the deli counter
8 slices smoked turkey, from the deli counter
2 eggs, beaten
Splash of milk
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1/2 cup sour cream
2 to 3 scallions, chopped

Steps:

  • Heat a medium soup pot over medium-high heat. Add the oil to the hot pot, then the garlic, celery, onions, jalapeno and bay leaf. Cook 3 to 4 minutes, and then add the bell peppers and continue to cook. Drain 2 cans of beans and add them. Use a fork to mash up the beans in the remaining cans. Stir the mashed beans into the pot and season with 2 to 3 tablespoons hot sauce, the cumin, coriander, salt and pepper. Add the stock and tomatoes to the stoup and bring to a bubble. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, about 15 minutes. Add the lime juice. Remove and discard the bay leaf.
  • While stoup cooks, make the Monte Cristos. Spread the bread with a light layer of hot pepper jelly. Build the sandwiches using 2 slices each of ham, cheese and turkey per sandwich. Beat the eggs with the milk and the remaining 2 teaspoons hot sauce. Sprinkle the eggs with a little salt. Heat a griddle pan or nonstick skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter in the skillet. Dip each sandwich in egg coating and cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side to melt the cheese and warm the meats through.
  • Ladle up the black bean stoup and top with the sour cream and scallions. Cut the Monte Cristos corner to corner and serve halves alongside the stoup for dipping and munching.

2 can(s) flat sheet crescent rolls (or the regular ones)
1 pkg low sodium deli ham (8 oz), I use Hillshire Farms
1 pkg low sodium deli turkey (8 oz), I use Hillshire Farms
2 tsp Dijon mustard
8 slice Swiss cheese
1 egg
2 tsp water
Pam spray for baking dish
1 c raspberry jam

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray 9X9 baking dish (use what you have handy).
  • 2. Place parchment paper in the pan. Lay the flat crescent dough in the pan. If it's too big, just trim it to fit.
  • 3. Spread 1 tsp mustard on the dough.
  • 4. Lay turkey meat evenly on the dough.
  • 5. Lay 4 slices of Swiss cheese on the turkey.
  • 6. Place 1 tsp mustard on the cheese.
  • 7. Lay ham evenly on the cheese.
  • 8. Add remaining 4 slices of cheese on the ham.
  • 9. Place flat piece of dough on top to cover it all.
  • 10. Mix egg with water and pour over the dough. Bake for 20 minutes on the center rack of the oven.
  • 11. Bake until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly and cut into squares.
  • 12. Serve with jam drizzled over the sandwich or on the side. The jam is an important part of the traditional flavor.

8 slices bacon
Eight 1/2-inch-thick slices challah bread or brioche
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
6 ounces smoked Gouda or Cheddar, shredded
12 ounces thinly sliced leftover turkey breast
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup leftover cranberry sauce or relish
1/3 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
3 large eggs
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Lay the bacon in a large nonstick skillet and cook over medium heat until golden and crispy, about 5 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain.
  • Lay 4 slices of the bread on a work surface. Spread one side of each slice with some mustard and top each with 2 slices of bacon. Evenly divide half of the Gouda and then half of the turkey among the sandwiches and season lightly with salt and pepper. Evenly spread the cranberry sauce over the top of each and top with the remaining turkey. Season lightly with salt and pepper. 1/2 cup fig or plum preserves
8 slices mild provolone or fontina cheese
8 slices prosciutto cotto with rosemary (recommended: Citterio)
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk or cream
1/2 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano, a couple handfuls
1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1 tablespoon butter
6 cups arugula or baby arugula
1 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, eyeball it
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat a large griddle or cast-iron skillet over medium heat.
  • Prepare the sandwiches by spreading 4 slices of the bread with preserves. Top with a slice of cheese, 2 slices of folded prosciutto, then another slice of cheese. Spread the remaining bread slices with Dijon and set in place over the cheese.
  • In a large shallow bowl, beat the eggs with the milk or cream, Parmesan, and parsley. Nest the butter in a paper towel and wipe it across the hot pan. Dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture and cook the sandwiches until deep golden, about 3 to 4 minutes on each side.

8 slices center cut or apple wood smoked bacon
4 large eggs, beaten
Warm 1/4 cup half-and-half
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg or ground -- eyeball it
1/2 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper -- eyeball it
2 tablespoons butter
8 thick cut sliced whole-grain soft bread, white, or challah
1/2 cup brown mustard
1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
1/2 pound sliced havarti cheese
1 pound sliced ham
1 pound sliced turkey breast
1 1/2 cups medium to dark amber maple syrup

Steps:

  • Heat a griddle pan or large skillet over medium high heat. Cook bacon and remove to paper towels to drain, 5 minutes. Drain off fat. Reheat griddle over medium heat. Make sandwiches in 2 batches.
  • Beat eggs with half-and-half, nutmeg and pepper. Add 1 tablespoon butter to the griddle or pan and melt. Turn 4 slices bread in batter, then add to griddle or pan. Turn bread after it browns, 2 to 3 minutes. Top 2 bread slices with mustard, the other 2 with cranberry sauce. Add 2 slices of cheese and bacon on the cranberry covered bread. Add ham, then turkey to the mustard covered bread. Use a spatula to assemble 2 sandwiches and turn and press gently to set sandwiches in place. Repeat to make 2 more sandwiches. Cut sandwiches from corner to corner.
  • Heat syrup in microwave safe container for 30 seconds. Drizzle syrup over sandwiches at the table.

Great Recipe- my family loved it- we had a side salad with it like she suggested. ENJOY! NOTE: Just think of all the othesandwichhe combinations to put into the waffle...

1/2 c cream or milk
1 Tbsp dijon mustard

1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp granulated sugar

1/4 lb deli-sliced turkey

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat your waffle iron to medium heat. In a shallow bowl, whisk together, eggs,cream, mustard,salt, pepper, cinnamon and sugar.
  • 2. Brush waffle maker with melted butter. Build sandwiches; One slice of bread, some cheese, a slice of ham, a slice of turkey, more cheese and another piece of bread. Turn sandwiches in batter and place in waffle iron. Close waffle iron and cook 5 minutes or until golden brown. 0.25 cups creamy peanut butter
0.25 cups strawberry jelly
8 slices bread
0.5 cups heavy whipping cream
2 units eggs
0.25 cups butter
1 units confectioners ' sugar

Steps:

  • Spread 1 tablespoon peanut butter on each of 4 bread slices. Spread 1 tablespoon jelly on each of remaining 4 bread slices. Place peanut-butter-coated and jelly-coated sides of bread together to form 4 sandwiches.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together cream and eggs. In a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat on stovetop, melt 1 tablespoon butter.
  • Dip sandwich in egg mixture, and cook in skillet for 1 to 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Repeat with remaining sandwiches. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, if desired.

How to make Baked Monte Cristo Sandwiches

1 egg
1 Tbs. water
flour
1 sheet Puff Pastry, thawed
8 thin slices ham
4 slices (1 oz. each) Swiss cheese
powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, beat together egg and water.
  • Sprinkle flour onto work surface. Roll pastry sheet into 12-inch square.
  • Cut pastry into four 6-inch squares.
  • Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg mixture.
  • Place one slice of ham and one slice of cheese on each square.
  • Fold the pastry on the diagonal to cover the filling. Crimp edges with a fork.
  • Brush pastries with egg mixture, and place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve with raspberry jam or maple syrup.

1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 slices Texas toast thick bread, white bread slices
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
4 tablespoons strawberry jam
4 ounces thinly sliced deli cooked turkey
4 ounces thinly sliced deli cooked smoked ham
8 (3/4 ounce) swiss cheese, slices
powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish.
  • Dip both side of each slice of bread into batter mixture.
  • Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat; add battered bread slices and cook 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • Spread 1 tbsp strawberry jam on each bread slice.
  • Add turkey, ham and cheese on top of 2 bread slices and then top with remaining slice to make a sandwich.
  • Place sandwiches on baking sheet and broil on middle oven rack 3-5 minutes or just until cheese melts making sure to flip them half way through and checking constantly not to burn them.

10 slices white bread or 10 slices whole wheat bread
5 ounces sliced swiss cheese (five slices)
0.5 (9 ounce) package shaved virginia brand deli ham
0.5 (9 ounce) package shaved mesquite deli turkey
1/2 cup egg substitute
1/3 cup low-fat milk
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/3 cup seedless raspberry jam, warmed

Steps:

  • Spread honey mustard evenly over 1 side of each bread slice.
  • Place 1 Swiss cheese slice on each of 5 bread slices.
  • Divide shaved ham and shaved turkey evenly over Swiss cheese. Top with remaining 5 bread slices, mustard side down.
