3/4 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup quick cooking oats
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 lb ground beef (I normally use about 2 lbs)
2/3 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 teaspoons prepared mustard

Steps:

  • In a bowl beat eggs and milk, stir in cheese, oats, onion, and salt.
  • Crumble beef over mixture and mix well.
  • Shape into 8 loaves place in 13x9x2 baking dish, I normally make my loaves bigger and can get about 4-5.
  • In separate bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard, Mix well.
  • The original recipe says to spoon over loafs and bake 45 minutes or until no longer pink and meat thermometer reads 160 degrees, uncovered at 350 degrees. However, I bake mine without the sauce until the last 10 minutes or so and then spoon the mixture over the loaves, replacing them back in oven to finish cooking.
