1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (5 to 6 lemons)
1/2 to 3/4 cup superfine sugar, to taste
1 cup crushed ice
4 cups water

Steps:

  • Place all the ingredients in a blender and process until completely smooth. Serve over ice.

MEDITERRANEAN-STYLE MINT LEMONADE (LIMONANA)

Mint lemonade, prepared Egyptian-style! Intense with flavor, frothy, and extremely refreshing! You'll love this limonana, but there is a small trick that makes all the difference.

2 cups crushed ice
4 cups water
2 large lemons (or limes), washed, cut into small pieces, and seeds removed
Juice of 1 large lemon
1 bunch fresh mint leaves, stems removed (about 25-40 mint leaves), more for later
1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar, more or less to your liking (you can use cane sugar or part honey, if you like)

Steps:

  • Add all the ingredients to the pitcher of a high-quality blender. Cover and push blend or liquefy (high-speed function), until you achieve the desired drink consistency.
  • Taste and add more sugar or mint leaves, if you like. Blend again.
  • Pour the lemonade into a serving pitcher through a mesh strainer. Add fresh mint leaves to the pitcher. Cover and refrigerate until you are ready to serve.
  • If you like, strain the lemonade again as you pour into serving glasses. Enjoy cold!

MIDDLE EASTERN LEMONADE

3/4 cup superfine sugar
1/4 cup packed fresh mint leaves
1 cup fresh lemon juice (6 to 8 lemons)
2 teaspoons orange flower water
1/2 orange, thinly sliced
Lemon vodka, for serving, optional

Steps:

  • Muddle the sugar and mint in the bottom of a pitcher. Stir in the lemon juice, 4 cups cold water and the orange flower water until the sugar is dissolved. Add the orange slices, cover and refrigerate until very cold, about 2 hours. Serve over ice.
  • For a cocktail version, add a shot of lemon vodka to each glass.

6 1/2 cups filtered water
3 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (15 to 20 lemons), plus 1 lemon for garnish
4 cups ice

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 2 1/2 cups water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat; let cool.
  • In a punch bowl or large container, combine the lemon juice, sugar syrup, remaining 4 cups water, and ice. Stir well to combine. Thinly slice remaining lemon, and add to lemonade. Serve.

3 cups loosely packed mint leaves (from about 20 stems)
1 cup granulated sugar
4 cups still water
Ice cubes

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine the lemon juice, mint, sugar, and 1/2 cup of the water and blend until fully liquid. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, reserving the liquid and discarding the solids. In a pitcher, stir together the mint mixture and the remaining 3 1/2 cups water. Serve over ice cubes.

2 ounces fresh lemon juice
1 ounce honey simple syrup
1/2 teaspoon honey
5 mint leaves

Steps:

  • Combine ouzo, lemon juice, simple syrup, honey and mint leaves with some ice into cocktail shaker.
  • Strain over ice into glass and garnish with fresh mint.
  • For simple syrup.
  • Combine 3/4 cup honey with 3/4 cup cold water in small pan.
  • Bring to boil and stir to dissolve honey.
  • Once honey is dissolved, remove from pan and let cool completely.
