This recipe comes from the Great American Favorite Brand Name Collector's Edition Cookbook. It's a very easy and tasty dish to prepare. Really nice served with Holiday turkey or ham dinners.

4 medium yams, cooked,peeled,cooled slightly or 1 (1 lb) can yam
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup Kahlua

Steps:

  • Cut yams in serving size pieces.
  • In heavy skillet, melt butter with sugar.
  • Add Kahlua; cook 1 minute.
  • Add yams; turn until brown on all sides.
  • Cover, reduce heat; cook about 15 minutes.
  • Turn yams once more before serving.

4-6 medium sized yams, cooked
¼ cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup brown sugar
¼ cup Kahlua
Pecan halves

Steps:

  • Cook yams in saucepan with boiling water to cover; simmer until tender (about 15-20 minutes). Remove from pan and let cool. Peel. Cut yams into serving size pieces. In heavy skillet, melt butter with sugar. Add Kahlua; cook 1 minute. Add yams; turn until brown on all sides. Cover. Reduce heat, cook about 15 minutes. Turn yams once more before serving. Sprinkle with pecan halves before serving. Makes 4-6 servings.

  • Boil yams until tender but still firm. Peel and slice to desired size.
  • In a heavy frying pan, melt butter and sugar. Add Kahlua; stir and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add yams and turn to brown on all sides. Cover, reduce heat and cook for 15 minutes. Turn yams once more before serving.
