Number Of Ingredients 14

1 large red onion
1 red pepper
1 green pepper
1 Jamaican hot pepper
3/4 lb hot Italian sausage
1 lb. ground beef
1 heaping TBS Jamaican dry jerk seasoning
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp cayenne
2 cloves garlic
1 can fresh cut tomatoes (1 lb. 12 oz)
1 cup ketchup
2 cans small red kidney beans (15.5 oz each)
1 bag shredded cheese - optional

Steps:

  • Chop onion and peppers. Remove sausage skin and brown. Add beef, jerk seasoning, chili powder, and cayenne. Add 3/4 onion and all peppers. Add garlic , crushed. Cook 5 minutes Add tomatoes, ketchup, cover and simmer 20 minutes. Add beans and simmer 10 minutes. Serves 8.

1 large red onion, diced
½ med white onion, diced
1 red pepper, diced
1 green pepper, diced
1 jalapeno, diced
¾ lb hot Italian sausage
1 lb chicken legs
¾ cup of Jamaica Jerk Marinade
¼ teaspoon chili powder
¼ teaspoon cayenne powder
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 can diced tomatoes (1lb 12oz)
1 cup Ketchup
1 can small red kidney beans, drained (15oz)
1 can small black beans, drained (15oz)
Fresh cilantro

Steps:

  • Brown Italian sausage in large pot. Brown chicken and set aside. Sautee onions and peppers until soft. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer 2-3 hours. Stir in chopped cilantro before serving

Jamaican Jerk Beef and Bean Chili image

A quick and easy Jamaican jerk themed beef and bean chili!

Number Of Ingredients 20

1 pound ground beef
1 onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon ginger, grated
1+ scotch bonnet pepper (or habanero pepper), finely diced
2 cups beef broth
2 (14.5 ounce) cans red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1/2 orange, juice and zest
1 lime, juice and zest (or 2 tablespoons cider vinegar)
2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari)
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon thyme, chopped (or 2 teaspoons dried thyme)
1 tablespoon allspice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Cook the beef and onion in a large saucepan over medium-high heat, breaking the beef apart with a spoon as it cooks, before draining off any excess grease.
  • Add the bell peppers and cook until just tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the garlic, ginger and scotch bonnet pepper and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Add the broth, beans, diced tomatoes, orange juice and zest, lime juice and zest, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, thyme, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg, bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. (Note: You can simmer longer and the flavours will only get better!)
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste and enjoy!
