2 cups sugar
1 1/3 cups milk
4 eggs, separated
1 pint whipping cream
2 pinches salt
2 packages gelatin powder, unsweetened
graham cracker crumbs or ready-made pie crust

Steps:

  • Cook sugar, 1 C milk and egg yolks in double boiler 30 minutes.
  • Mix knox in 1/4 C warm water- soak.
  • add 1/3 C hot milk, vanilla or almond.
  • Cool.
  • Beat egg whites and whipping cream.
  • Fold cooled mixture into whipping cream and then fold in egg whites.
  • Butter a roasting pan and generously sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs.
  • gently pour the mixture in shell and cover top with graham cracker crumbs.
  • Refrigerate.

One of my Grandma's recipes. :) She claims it is a never fail dessert that everyone likes. My sister-in-law didn't like the pistachio version this Easter, but I'm sure she would have liked the chocolate! It is a very easy yet pretty layered dessert.

1 1/2 cups flour
3 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans
8 ounces cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup Cool Whip
1 (3 1/2 ounce) box vanilla instant pudding mix
1 1/2 cups milk
1 (3 1/2 ounce) box instant chocolate pudding mix or 1 (3 1/2 ounce) box instant pistachio pudding mix
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup Cool Whip

Steps:

  • Mix ingredients for cookie crust. Spread onto bottom of 9x13" pan. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes. Cool.
  • Blend together ingredients for cream cheese layer. Spread over cooled crust.
  • Prepare vanilla pudding mix with 1 1/2 c milk according to package directions. Pour over cream cheese layer.
  • Prepare chocolate or pistachio pudding with 1 1/2 c milk. Pour over vanilla layer.
  • Top with cool whip.
