This bread will make your house smell wonderful while it bakes. The combination of herbs and seasoning make it irresistible. It's my most requested recipe. -Joan Hallford, North Richland Hills, Texas

Yield 1 loaf (32 pieces).

Number Of Ingredients 13

3 to 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1-1/4 cups fat-free milk
2 tablespoons canola oil
4 tablespoons butter, melted, divided
1 egg
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon each dried parsley flakes, thyme, and rosemary, crushed

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast. In a small saucepan, heat the milk, oil and 2 tablespoons butter to 120°-130°. Add to dry ingredients; beat just until moistened. Add egg; beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough., Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a bowl coated with cooking spray, turning once to coat the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , In a small bowl, combine the cheese, sesame seeds, garlic salt, paprika and herbs. Punch dough down. Divide into 32 pieces; roll each into a ball. , Drizzle 2 teaspoons butter into a 10-in. tube pan coated with cooking spray; sprinkle with a third of the cheese mixture. Top with 16 balls. Repeat layers. Drizzle with remaining butter and sprinkle with remaining cheese mixture. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes. , Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.

1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan or pecorino cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 tablespoons ( 1/2 stick) butter, melted and cooled
3 pounds purchased frozen white bread dough, thawed

Steps:

  • Lightly coat a large, smooth Bundt pan or ring cake pan with cooking spray. In a small bowl, mix together the cheese, oregano, thyme, parsley and black pepper. Place the butter in a bowl. Cut the dough into about 60 walnut-size pieces. Dunk each piece into the melted butter, allowing the excess to drip off, then roll each in the herb-cheese mixture. Place the dough pieces in the prepared pan, arranging them evenly in about 3 layers. The pan should be filled slightly more than halfway. Avoid overfilling the pan. Excess dough can be arranged in another smaller pan. Cover the pan with plastic wrap and allow to rise for 1 hour, or until risen and puffy. About 15 minutes before the dough has finished rising, heat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake the monkey bread for 30 to 40 minutes, or until golden and cooked through (the internal temperature should be 200 degrees). Allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before removing.

1 garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
1 teaspoon minced chives
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
2 tubes (12 ounces each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the butter, garlic and seasonings. Dip biscuits in butter mixture; place in a greased 10-in. fluted tube pan. , Bake at 400° for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to wire rack. Serve warm.

2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
2 (8 ounce) packages biscuits

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly butter a 12-cup Bundt pan; set aside.
  • In a small bowl, combine cheese and Italian seasoning.
  • Roll each individual biscuit into a ball. Dip each piece in the 1 stick of melted butter, then coat with the cheese mixture. Place dough into prepared pan; overlapping will occur. Bake bread, 30 to 35 minutes. Cover with aluminum foil during the last 10 minutes of baking to prevent excess browning, if needed.

1 c grated parmesan cheese
2 tsp italian seasoning
3 pkg canned biscuits

Steps:

  • 1. Melt butter in microwave. In a bowl place Parmesan cheese. Roll individual biscuit into a ball. Dip each piece in butter then in cheese mixture. Place dough in prepared bundt pan. Sprinkle with italian seasoning. Pour some butter over top of dough. Bake at 350F for 35 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes and then invert on a plate. Sprinkle a little Parmesan & rest of butter on top.
