2 c hot coffee (strong)
1/4 c chocolate syrup
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
1 dash(es) ground red pepper
1/2 c half-and-half cream
whipped light cream, if desired
chocolate shavings, if desired

Steps:

  • 1. Pour coffee into 1-quart saucepan. Stir in chocolate syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and red pepper; add half & half. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through (3 to 4 minutes).
  • 2. To serve, pour into individual coffee mugs. Garnish each serving with whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings, if desired.

1 cup milk
2 cups strong coffee

Steps:

  • Heat milk in a small pan over medium heat. Whisk vigorously until foam is stiff. Alternatively, use a milk frother to whisk until stiff. Divide coffee between 2 cups. Using a spoon to hold back foam, pour hot milk into each cup. Using the tip of the spoon, place 8 small dots of milk foam in a heart shape on top of each coffee. Drag a toothpick through foam dots, following the shape of the heart and also creating hearts out of each foam dot. Serve immediately.

MOROCCAN DAYDREAM COFFEE

This morning, for some reason I was daydreaming of the colors, scents and appeal of the Medina souks that I would love to visit in Morocco. As I was starting my morning coffee I reached for the Ras El Hanout on impulse and put about a 1/2 tsp into my personal one cup maker along with the coffee. The result is a real delight. UPDATE (1/20/14) I just made this again and it occurred to me that Ras el Hanout mix can be made in almost infinite variety thus effecting the flavor of the coffee. 1 tablespoon ground coffee (or any amount you prefer for a single cup)
1/2 teaspoon ras el hanout spice mix (or to your own spice level liking)
sugar (as and if you like, can use honey, Splenda, anything or nothing)

Steps:

  • Add the coffee and Ras El Hanout to the brew basket of your coffee maker.
  • Stir a bit just to mix the coffee and spice.
  • Start the coffee maker and enjoy the result.
