PRIZE WINNING MEATLOAF

This is a great go to recipe. It's easy and relatively inexpensive to make.

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 1/2 lb lean ground beef or turkey
3/4 c quaker oats
3/4 c finely chopped onion
1/2 c ketchup
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
FOR THE SAUCE:
1/2 c grated onion
1 c ketchup
5 Tbsp brown sugar
1-2 Tbsp vinegar

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredientsin large bowl; mix lightly but thoroughly. Bake 50-55 minutes or until meatloaf is to medium doneness. (Beef 160 degrees, Turkey 170).
  • 2. Twenty minutes before the meatloaf is done, drain off grease and liquid. Cover the meatloaf with 1/2 cup of the grated onion. Mix the remaining sauce ingredients in a pan and heat slightly, do not boil. Brush on top of meatloaf. If you like more sauce you can always double the ingredients. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.

I've been making this meatloaf since I was a little girl in 4-H...my family really likes it, it's really moist and the sauce on top gives it a sweeter flavor....

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
3/4 cup oats (uncooked)
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup tomato juice
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Steps:

  • Combine all indgredients and mix well.
  • Press firmly into ungreased loaf pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven (350 degrees) about 1 hour.
  • Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
  • Makes 8 servings.
  • Note: I like to put Piquant Sauce on top before baking.
  • Piquant Sauce: 3 Tbsp.
  • brown sugar,1/4 c catsup, 1/4 tsp.
  • nutmeg 1 tsp.
  • dry mustard mix all together and spread over meatloaf before baking.

1 1/2 pounds 90% lean ground beef
1 cup tomato juice or tomato sauce
3/4 cup Quaker® Oats, quick or old fashioned, uncooked
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt, optional
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, combine all ingredients, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Press into 8 x 4-inch loaf pan. Bake 1 hour to medium (160°F) doneness until not pink in center and juices show no pink color. Let stand 5 minutes; drain off any juices before slicing. Plate, serve and enjoy!

I like this recipe because every weekend my Grandmother would make this meatloaf and we would have it with escalloped corn and baked potatoes.

1 lb lean ground beef (80%)
1 medium onion, diced
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup
1 egg
20 square soda crackers, crushed
salt and pepper
1/2 cup ketchup

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine all the ingrediants and mix completely.
  • Place in a greased bread pan and cover with foil.
  • Bake covered for 1 hour.
  • Uncover spread ketsup on top. Place back in over for 30 minutes.
