1 cup room temp. butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 cups fresh dairy buttermilk, at room temperature
7 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon grated fresh nutmeg
1/4 cup whole milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans or 1/2 cup walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven 350 degrees F.
  • Grease a 9 x 13 cake pan.
  • In mixer bowl cream butter and sugars well for three minutes.
  • In a small bowl whisk the flour and salt.
  • Add the flour and salt to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
  • Beginning and ending with the flour.
  • Pour into pan and bake.
  • Bake 35 minutes until top springs back when touched.
  • Combine all topping ingredients together in a mixer bowl, then stir in the nuts.
  • When cake is finished, turn temp. to broil.
  • Pour topping all over the cake, and place under broiler at a distance of 8 inches below.
  • Broil for three minutes, until brown and bubbling.
  • Remove cool on rack.
  • Cut and serve from cake pan.

  • CAKE: PRE-HEAT OVEN TO 375 MIX TOGETHER IN A LARGE BOWL: 2 CUPS FLOUR 2 CUPS SUGAR 1 TSP. BAKING SODA 1 TSP. CINNAMON 1 TSP. VANILLA 2 EGGS ½ CUP BUTTERMILK BRING FOLLOWING INGREDIENTS TO BOIL: 2 STICKS BUTTER ½ CUP COCOA 1 CUP WATER COMBINE INTO FLOUR MIXTURE. SPREAD COMBINED INGREDIENTS EVENLY ACROSS A GREASED, FLOURED COOKIE SHEET. FROSTING: WHILE CAKE IS BAKING: MELT ONE STICK UNSALTED BUTTER ADD TO BUTTER: ½ CUP COCOA 6 TBSP. WHOLE MILK 1 LB. 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, at room temperature, plus butter for greasing the pan
2 and 2/3 cups all-purpose flour, plus flour for dusting the pan
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter and flour a 9-inch springform pan.
  • Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  • In a bowl cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time and beat thoroughly. Fold in the flour mixture alternately with the milk. Stir in vanilla.
  • Pour into prepared pan and bake for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 325 degrees and bake 60 to 70 minutes longer, until the cake is brown and a cake tester comes out clean. Cool on a rack for 10 minutes, then unmold and continue cooling.

1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 jar butterscotch topping or caramel topping
12 ounces Cool Whip
4 small Heath candy bars, crushed into bits

Steps:

  • Bake cake according to package directions on box. Let cool for 20 minutes.
  • Mix butterschotch topping with condensed milke.
  • Poke holes in cake with end of wooden spoon. Pour the mixture in holes and over cake. Let cool.
  • Ice with Cool Whip and top with crushed candy bars.
