2/3 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup minced onion
3 tablespoons minced dill pickle
2 tablespoons pickle brine
2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
1 tablespoon prepared white horseradish
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Whisk all ingredients in a medium bowl to blend. DO AHEAD: Can be made 1 day ahead. Keep chilled.

6 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup shredded carrot
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup white wine vinegar
1 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 cup sugar
Salt and pepper

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine cabbage and carrots. In a smaller bowl, make dressing by combining mayonnaise, vinegar, celery seed, sugar, salt and pepper. Toss dressing into cabbage mixture and let chill. Serve in a family style bowl.

My mother-in-law gave me this recipe years ago and it is the one I make the most. Super easy. Halve the recipe to cover one bag of prepared slaw vegetables. Prep time does not include chill time.

1 cup mayonnaise (low fat works well too)
2 tablespoons sugar (I've also used Splenda here)
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 teaspoons black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/8 teaspoon celery seed
5 cups shredded coleslaw mix (cabbage, carrot, onion, bell pepper, etc.)

Steps:

  • Whisk together ingredients for dressing in a non-reactive (non-metal) bowl until sugar dissolves.
  • Toss with slaw vegetables of choice.
  • Refrigerate at least four hours.
  • Toss well before serving.

This is the best cole slaw dressing I've tried in my many years of cooking.

1 medium head of cabbage,shredded
1 large carrot, grated
1 cup(s) mayonnaise
1/4 cup(s) white vinegar
3/4 cup(s) granulated sugar
1/4 cup(s) vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Place shredded cabbage and grated carrots in salad bowl.
  • Mix together mayonnaise, vegetable oil, sugar, and vinegar.
  • Mix dressing with cabbage and carrots being careful not to add too much as the cabbage will wilt down. Refrigerate and at serving time, add more a bit more dressing if needed.
  • I have made this with Splenda instead of sugar and it works very well.

I usually fix this slaw when we have fresh fish. My mom always fixed this coleslaw for all the fish fries we went to. Mine is just sweeter, which is how my husband likes it! Prep time includes chilling time.

1 lb shredded cabbage (small head)
1 carrot, finely shredded
1 tablespoon finely shredded onion
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon pickle juice
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
salt and pepper
1/4-1/2 cup mayonnaise, as needed
1 tablespoon milk, to thin (optional)

Steps:

  • In small bowl, stir mayonnaise, juice,& vinegar well.
  • Add sugar,& seasonings, mix until dissolved.
  • Can add milk if dressing needs to be thinned down.
  • Cover& store in fridge for 30 minutes, to let flavors mingle and dressing thicken up.
  • After 1/2 hour, mix cabbage, onion,& carrot, together.
  • Add dressing and mix well.
  • Put in fridge for at least 1/2 hour.
  • Stir well, before serving.
