cooking spray
2 ⅔ cups all-purpose flour, or more as needed
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 pinches salt
3 eggs
¾ cup milk
¾ cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch cake tin with cooking spray and line with parchment paper.
  • Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt together in a bowl. Add eggs, milk, and vegetable oil. Mix by hand or use an electric mixer on low speed until smooth. Add more flour if batter is too runny. Pour into the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 1 hour.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool, 15 to 30 minutes. Transfer to the refrigerator to chill slightly, 15 to 30 minutes more. Slice the cooled cake through the middle to make 2 layers.

250g pack unsalted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
250g golden caster sugar
seeds scraped from 1 vanilla pod or 1 tsp vanilla paste
5 large eggs, cracked into a jug
85g plain flour
100g full-fat Greek yogurt (I used Total)
250g self-raising flour
3 tbsp semi-skimmed milk
50g golden caster sugar
seeds ½ vanilla pod or ½ tsp vanilla paste

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 160C/140C fan/gas 3. Grease a round, deep 20cm tin, then line the base and sides with non-stick baking paper.
  • Using electric beaters or a tabletop mixer, beat the butter, sugar, vanilla and ¼ tsp salt together until pale and fluffy, then pour in the eggs, one at a time, giving the mix a really good beating before adding the next.
  • Add 1 tbsp of the plain flour if the mix starts to look slimy rather than fluffy. Beat in the yogurt. Mix the flours; then, using a large metal spoon, fold them into the batter, followed by the milk.
  • Spoon the mix into the tin and bake for 1 hr 20 mins or until well risen and golden - a skewer inserted into the middle should come out clean.
  • Meanwhile, make the syrup by gently heating 50ml water with the sugar and vanilla in a pan until the sugar dissolves. Set aside. Once the cake is out of the oven, leave to cool for 30 mins in the tin, then use a skewer to poke holes all over the cake, going right to the bottom. Pour the syrup over, letting it completely soak in after each addition.
  • Leave to cool completely, then either wrap the cake well or fill and ice it. If you wrap it with baking parchment and cling film, the unfilled cake will keep well for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to a month.

2 3/4 cups granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup French vanilla creamer
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup salted butter (melted)
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla, butter & nut extract
1 tablespoon French vanilla creamer

Steps:

  • In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, add the softened butter, sugar and salt. Using a hand mixer or the stand mixer, cream the butter, sugar, salt and flavoring together. Then add the eggs one at a time, beating after each one. Add the creamer and flour alternately while beating the mixture. Grease and flour a bundt cake pan and place the batter in the pan. Place the pan of batter into a cold oven and set the oven to 325 degrees. Bake the cake for 1 hour and 40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Turn out the cake onto a plate immediately after removing the cake from the oven. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, powdered sugar, flavoring and creamer. Mix until the glaze is smooth. Once the cake has cooled, drizzle or spoon the glaze overtop the cake.
  • Serve once the cake has completely cooled. Serve with vanilla ice cream, butterscotch topping and nuts, if desired.

Don't miss out on birthday cake-- but miss out on the saturated fat and calories! I used pourable egg whites for this recipe, if you use real eggs for this 2 to 2.5 egg whites will do fine. Regular pourable egg substitute like store-brand or EggBeaters also works. I used Recipe #411869 for baking powder for added health quotient. The sunflower oil is Vitamin E rich and adds a nice clean taste to the batter. I'm sure lavender sugar would taste awesome in this and there is just enough sugar for sweetness but the cake isn't weighed down by it.

i was given this recipe by some one and i lost the page.. i was so nervous it was my first time making a cake from scratch and i had a craving for lime@! so i added some lime zest made two cakes- the first one i made wrong of course but..dang if it did'nt turn out also!

4 eggs
2 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 c whole milk
1/4 c butter
2 c all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1-2 tsp fresh grated lime zest

Steps:

  • 1. this is an adaptation of a recipe reportedly used by Cake Boss.
  • 2. 1. Beat eggs in large mixing bowl with paddle attachment for 4 minutes. Do not skip this step!
  • 3. 2. Add sugar and lime zest and continue beating for another 4-5 minutes until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and stir on low until just combined
  • 4. 3. In a separate bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Add to eggs and sugar on low speed until just combined.
  • 5. 4. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter on low heat just until butter is melted. Add to batter, beat just until combined. i like to get this started before i start mixing- that way the eggs dont have to rest before mixing in the rest. also i found adding this slowly Before adding the dry ingredients it mixes up better. the previous recipe had you adding the flour before the milk.
  • 6. 5. Pour into two greased and floured 8" round cake pans.
  • 7. 6. Bake at 325 until the middle springs back when touched, or a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and let stand in pans for 10 minutes. Then turn out onto wire cooling racks and cool completely.
  • 8. Hint: Cakes are close to being done when you start to smell them.

1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Get a bowl first put the 4 eggs the vanilla and then the sugar
  • Mix in a blender till thick and creamy.
  • While the eggs are blending mix flour and baking soda
  • When the mixture is finished take it out of blender and stir the flour with the baking soda in the bowl.
  • When that is done take as much of the mixture as possible and put it in the cake pan and then in the oven for 20 minutes on 450°F.
  • When the cake is done cooking wait 10 minutes for it to cool.
