DUKE'S HULA PIE
Duke's Hula Pie - easy vanilla macadamia nut ice cream pie inspired by our meal at Duke's in La Jolla, CA. Super easy to make and no ice cream machine required! Heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, macadamia nuts, and hot fudge. This pie is to-die-for delicious! Great for parties. Steps:
- Whip heavy cream until stiff peaks. Fold in sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, and 1 cup chopped macadamia nuts.
- Spread ice cream into the Oreo cookie crust. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the freezer. Freeze for 6 hours, or until set.
- Remove from the freezer. Warm hot fudge sauce in the microwave for 10 seconds. Pour hot fudge sauce over pie and sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts. Place back in the freezer for 10 minutes.
- Remove pie from the freezer, let sit for 10 minutes before cutting. Top with whipped cream, if desired.
DUKE'S HULA PIE
This is an imitation of the real thing, which can be had at Duke's Canoe Club on Oahu. My family always makes it a point to grab a huge slice (each) of this! Adaptation from Lynn & Rick Carlton.

Steps:
- Bring topping to room temperature.
- Crush macadamia nuts.
- Scoop ice cream into bowl and mix in crushed macadamia nuts.
- Scoop ice cream into pie shell, smoothing into mound (it needs to be a ridiculous 6-8" high at center).
- Warm a bit of milk and use it to dilute the chocolate topping, then use a warmed knife to spread chocolate topping over mounded ice cream.
- Place in freezer until ready to serve.
- HINT: Cover top of pie with whipped cream design before serving.
HULA PIE
This copycat Hula Pie is a favorite every time we are in Hawaii. Now you can make it from the comfort of your own home when you're missing your favorite island! ;)

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- In a small bowl, mix together oreos and butter and press them into the bottom of a greased 9" pie pan. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven, and let it cool completely.
- In a large bowl, mix together softened vanilla ice cream and macadamia nuts. Pour ice cream mixture into pie pan, then top with drizzled hot fudge, whipped cream, and a few more macadamia nuts.
- Place in the freezer for 3-4 hours, letting it thaw for about 5-10 minutes before serving (that will make it a lot easier to cut!).
