Large sea scallops are combined with garlic, shallots, butter, and bread crumbs then baked to perfection. Being from Maine, we love our seafood, and this is one of the greats!

Number Of Ingredients 10

16 sea scallops, rinsed and drained
5 tablespoons butter, melted
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 shallots, chopped
3 pinches ground nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup bread crumbs
4 tablespoons olive oil
¼ cup chopped parsley
1 lemon wedges for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Place scallops, melted butter, garlic, and shallots in a bowl. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Stir gently to combine. Transfer to a casserole dish.
  • In a separate bowl, combine bread crumbs and olive oil. Sprinkle on top of scallops.
  • Bake in preheated oven until crumbs are brown and scallops are done, about 11 to 14 minutes. Top with parsley, and serve with lemon wedges on the side.

Delicious baked scallops with butter and garlic. Bay scallops are the little ones and they tend to be sweeter tasting than sea scallops.

4 tablespoons butter, melted
1 ½ pounds bay scallops, rinsed and drained
½ cup seasoned dry bread crumbs
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon dried parsley
3 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Pour melted butter into a 2 quart oval casserole dish. Distribute butter and scallops evenly inside the dish.
  • Combine the bread crumbs, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, parsley, minced garlic and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this mixture over the scallops.
  • Bake in pre-heated oven until scallops are firm, about 20 minutes.

1 1/2 pounds sea scallops (about 24)
1 large egg
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed (optional)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Rinse scallops, and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Combine egg and water in a bowl; stir well. Combine breadcrumbs, salt, and fennel seeds, if desired. Dip each scallop into egg mixture; dredge in breadcrumb mixture. Place scallops on a lightly greased 10x15 inch rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle scallops with melted butter and lemon juice. Bake, uncovered, for 15 to 20 minutes or until scallops are golden. 1 lb Naked Sea Scallops thaw and patted dry
2 tbsp. Butter melted
0.25 cup White Wine use what you drink!
1 tsp. Fresh Garlic chopped finely
0 to taste Kosher Salt + Fresh Ground Black Pepper
6 tbsp. Butter melted
2 cups Oyster crackers coarsely ground / crushed
2 tbsp. Fresh Parsley chopped
0.5 Lemon, zested

Steps:

  • Pre heat oven to 450°F.
  • Pulse oyster crackers in a food processor until coarsely ground. If you do not have a food processor, place in Ziploc bag and crush until coarse.
  • Add melted butter, parsley, and lemon zest. Pulse (or mix well) JUST to combine and keep chilled.
  • In a bowl, combine the scallops, garlic, wine, and melted butter. Toss well to combine.
  • Season scallops with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer to a casserole dish in one layer. Sprinkle the cracker mixture evenly over the scallops.
  • Bake for 14-16 minutes, until crumbs have browned and scallops are cooked through.

1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, plus lemon wedges, for serving

Hot sauce, to taste

1/4 cup plain dried breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 pound bay scallops, patted dry
1/2 cup vegetable oil, such as safflower
4 hot dog buns
4 lettuce leaves

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice, teaspoon paprika, and hot sauce; season with salt and pepper. Set spicy mayo aside.
  • In a medium bowl, combine breadcrumbs, flour, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon paprika; season with salt and pepper. Add scallops, and toss to coat.
  • In a medium nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high. Working in two batches, fry scallops, tossing occasionally, until golden and cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer scallops to a paper-towel-lined plate; season with salt.
  • Dividing evenly, spread inside of buns with spicy mayo. Top with a lettuce leaf, then scallops. Serve po boys immediately, with lemon wedges.

1 egg
2 tablespoons water
salt & pepper
3/4 cup fine breadcrumbs
1/2 cup melted butter

Steps:

  • Season the dried scallops with salt & pepper. Beat together the egg and the water.
  • Dip the scallops in the egg-water mixture, then roll them in the bread crumbs, then dip the BOTTOMS of these into the melted butter.
  • Place the scallops buttered sides down on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 450 degree F oven for 20 minutes.
