- If desired, moisten the rims of punch glasses with water. Sprinkle crushed peppermint candies on a plate; dip rims in candies. Set glasses aside., Just before serving, combine ice cream, club soda and eggnog in a 4-qt. punch bowl. Serve in prepared glasses.

PEPPERMINT PUNCH
This recipe came from a lady in our electric co-op. They produce a monthly magazine that has all kinds of interesting things and the recipe pages are wonderful Kentucky dishes. This one happened to be for a the lady's daughter's wedding. It'd be great for the holidays too.

Steps:
- Chop the candy canes in a food processor to get them fine enough. Place the softened ice cream and strawberry preserves in a punch bowl. Mix well.
- When serving, add the soda and sprinkle in the crushed candy canes on top and stir.
- Unwrap the whole candy canes and hang on the sides of the punch bowl with the ends inside.

I had this punch at a party many years ago and really liked it even though I normally don't care for eggnog itself. Was so happy to see it resurface in Taste of Home magazine! Oldies but goodies always make a comeback! Enjoy! (photo from Taste of Home)

Steps:
- 1. Blend ingredients and pour slowly into punch bowl. Serve immediately. Optional: Moisten rim of glasses and punch bowl and dip into crushed candy canes. Top with extra scoops of peppermint ice cream.
