This easy Sausage Crescent Bake is the perfect way to start the day!

1 pound pork sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 4 ounce can diced green chiles, drained (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 8 ounce package cream cheese
2 8 ounce packages original crescent rolls
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Fry sausage, onion, green chiles, salt, pepper and garlic powder in a skillet on top of the stove. Drain if needed.
  • Add cream cheese and cook until melted. Spread one can of the crescent rolls in the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking dish sprayed with cooking spray and crimping openings in dough together to make a flat bottom. Add sausage and creamed mixture on top. Sprinkle on shredded cheddar cheese. Spread the other can of crescent rolls on top crimping edges together.
  • Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 20 minutes or until top is nicely browned. Slice into pieces with a knife or use a pizza cutter to slice. I made about 20 pieces but I sliced some larger than others

1 pound bulk pork sausage
1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
8 large eggs
2 cups 2% milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles; drain. Unroll crescent roll dough into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Seal seams and perforations. Sprinkle with sausage and cheese., In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, salt and pepper. Pour over sausage and cheese., Bake, uncovered, 35-40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving., Make-Ahead: Refrigerate unbaked casserole, covered, several hours or overnight. To use, preheat oven to 375°. Remove casserole from refrigerator while oven heats. Bake as directed, increasing time as necessary until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving.

I rolled the dough out with a rolling pin and flour. I also added a pinch of onion powder, garlic powder and red pepper flakes to the sausage and cheese mixture. I used Hickory Flavored Sausage. You can use the hot sausage for more of a kick. Excellent and so easy!!

1 pound(s) breakfast sausage of choice (hot, sage, maple or hickory)
8 ounce(s) cream cheese
2 package(s) 12oz crescent roll dough
1 package(s) pepperoni (optional)
1/2 cup(s) shredded cheese of choice (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 Cook 1 lb sausage, cook (In microwave for 5 min, drain) add 1 block cream cheese (microwave for 1 min to soften). Stir together. Put 1 whole can cresent rolls in bottom of greased 13x9 pan, pinch seams. Put all mix on top. Add pepperoni (optional), sprinkle with shredded cheese of choice (optional) add second can of cresent rolls on top pinch seams and sides. Bake for 20 minutes.

2 (8-oz.) can(s) crescent rolls
2 (8-oz.) pkgs. cream cheese, softened
1 lb. pkg. bulk hot sausage
1 lb. pkg. bulk mild sausage
1 (8-oz.) bag shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9 X 12 baking dish with cooking spray.
  • 2. Cook sausage until done and drain off grease. (Both rolls may be cooked together). Mix cooked, warm sausage and cream cheese together.
  • 3. Unroll one can of crescent rolls and spread out in bottom of baking dish. Spread sausage mixture over top of crescent roll layer. Sprinkle shredded cheese over sausage layer. Unroll second can of crescent rolls and place on top.
  • 4. Bake casserole until golden brown on top, approximately 20-25 minutes.

2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1 lb bulk pork sausage (hot or mild)
1 onion, finely chopped
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
3 -4 fresh sage leaves, finely chopped (optional)
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F
  • Unroll 1 can of dough into 2 long rectangles and place in ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish, press over bottom and 1/2 inch up sides to form crust.
  • Brown sausage and onion in large frying pan over medium heat until thoroughly cooked, remove sausage from the frying pan and discard the fat.
  • Add cream cheese to same frying pan and cook over low heat until melted.
  • Add cooked sausage, stir to coat, add the chopped sage if using.
  • Spoon evenly over crust in baking dish and sprinkle with the cheese.
  • Unroll the second can of dough on work surface.
  • Press to form 13x9-inch rectangle, firmly press perforations to seal and carefully place over cheese.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Cool for 10 minutes then cut into squares.

This recipe came to me from a potluck at my school. Our librarian Lillian brought this dish. It was wonderful. She copied the page this recipe came from a magazine in 1975. HA ha ...I had do laugh...the page say's, "It's under .60 cents a serving." Thankfully you can still get the ingredients and, yes, Swift still makes...

Number Of Ingredients 9

8 oz can crescent roll dough
2 pkg 8 oz. swift brown n serve sausages, thawed and sliced (original recipe calls for 1 8 oz pkg.)
2 c shredded cheese (monterey jack or swiss)....use swiss
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1/4 c milk
1/4 c green pepper (nope....i used green chile)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp oregano (don't leave this out...it makes a difference)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 425F. Separate the dough into 2 large rectangles. Put in an ungreased 9 x 13 pan. Press the bottoms and up over the sides to make a crust. Seal the perforations.
  • 2. Toss in the sliced sausages, sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • 3. Beat the eggs and stir in the milk, chile, salt, pepper and oregano. Pour over the top of the sausage/cheese. Bake 25 minutes or until golden brown.
