1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup butter
1 cup chocolate chips
1 egg
¼ cup milk
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Coat a 2 quart casserole dish with vegetable cooking spray. Melt chocolate chips in a measuring cup in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds until smooth. Let stand for 5 minutes to cool slightly.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until the dough is a uniform crumbly texture. Beat the egg into the melted chocolate chips, then stir the milk in. Pour the chocolate mixture into the dry ingredients, and stir until well blended.
  • Pour the cherry pie filling in an even layer in the bottom of the greased casserole dish. Drop spoonfuls of the chocolate batter over the cherries in a random pattern.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until top crust is not doughy when lifted. Serve warm.

2 tablespoons plus 1/4 cup baking cocoa, divided
1/2 cup whole milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup packed brown sugar
1-3/4 cups hot water
Vanilla ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and oil until smooth. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking pan. Combine the brown sugar and remaining cocoa; sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over top (do not stir). Bake at 350° until top of cake springs back when lightly touched, 40-45 minutes. 1 1/4 c sugar, divided
7 Tbsp cocoa, divided
1 c all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c milk
1/3 c unsalted butter, melted
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c firmly packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 c very hot water (may only need 1 1/4)

Steps:

  • 1. Set oven to 350. Stir together ¾ c. sugar, flour, 3 T. cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  • 2. Stir in milk, butter and vanilla, mixing until smooth. Pour batter into an 8" square glass pan.
  • 3. Mix ½ c. sugar, brown sugar, and 4 T. cocoa. Sprinkle evenly over batter.
  • 4. Pour hot water over top. Do not stir.
  • 5. Bake 35 to 40 min or until center is almost set. Let stand 15 min.
  • 6. Can use chocolate syrup from bottom of dessert to spoon over servings. Serve with ice cream.

Steps:

  • Make the filling: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Butter a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Combine the cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice and vanilla and almond extracts in a large bowl; toss until combined with no clumps. Spread in the prepared dish.
  • Make the topping: Pulse the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder and salt in a food processor until combined. Add the butter and pulse until pea-size pieces form.   • Preheat oven to 350. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, 3 tablespoons hot cocoa powder, and 1/2 cup of white sugar. Stir in milk, peanut butter, butter, and vanilla. Mixture will be thick like the texture of a brownie mix. Spread mixture into an ungreased 8-inch baking dish with a spatula and even out the batter. I used an 8-8-inch pan and that worked great. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup white sugar, brown sugar, and remaining cocoa. Sprinkle mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the hot water over everything and do not stir. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the center is slightly firm but not fluid like liquid. Spoon mixture into small bowls (it’s very rich…a little goes a long way) and serve with a scoop of chocolate peanut butter ice cream.

Steps:

  • Melt butter in the oven in a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish. In a large bowl, mix flour, 1 1/4 cups sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa together. Add milk and vanilla and mix well. Pour mixture over melted butter in the casserole dish; do not stir. Mix together topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter; do not stir. Pour boiling water overtop; do not stir. Bake at 350°F for 35 mins. Bottom of dish will be runny.

Rich, wonderful old-timey like cobbler!!!! Great for potlucks and get-togethers. Fast, easy and always a hit! Great with ice cream!!

6 tablespoons butter
1 cup self-rising flour
¾ cup white sugar
1 ½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup white sugar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ cups boiling water

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Melt butter in an 8x8 inch baking dish while the oven preheats.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Spoon this batter over the melted butter in the baking dish.
  • Stir together the remaining cup of sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle over the batter. Slowly pour boiling water over the top of the mixture.
  • Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until set. Serve slightly warm with ice cream.
