CHERRY NUT BARS
Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F.
- Combine all ingredients except pie filling and marshmallows in large bowl. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 1/2 cups crumb mixture for topping.
- Press remaining crumb mixture into ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned on edges.
- Gently spoon pie filling evenly over hot, partially baked crust; sprinkle with marshmallows. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Continue baking 25-35 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars.

- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter, sugar and salt until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extracts. Gradually add flour., Spread 3 cups dough into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Spread with pie filling. Drop remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over filling. Bake 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack., In a small bowl, mix confectioners' sugar, extracts and enough milk to reach desired consistency; drizzle over top.

- PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees.
- COMBINE flour with 1/3 cup brown sugar. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press mixture evenly and firmly onto bottom of ungreased 15 x 10 jelly roll pan or large baking tin. Bake for 15 minutes.
- MEANWHILE, beat egg slightly in large bowl. Stir in remaining 1/3 cup brown sugar and salt. Add nuts cherries and chocolate chips. Toss mixture evenly to coat.
- SPOON this mixture evenly over the baked layer. Press down firmly to adhere layers.
- BAKE an additional 20 minutes.
- COOL and cut into 1 1/2 by 2 inch bars. Do NOT let this cool too much or you will never get them out of the pan in nice pieces.

From Land o' Lake. I think it is unique because of the marshmallows in it. You don't really taste them (in fact everyone surprised when I said they were in there) but they add a wonderful creamy note that compliment the cherries beautifully. The oats in the more traditional shortbread crust is an excellent addition also.

- In large mixing bowl, mix flour, oats, sugar, pecans, baking soda and butter.
- Mix at low speed until crumbly.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the creamed mixture. - Combine the flour, margarine and sugar in a bowl well.
- Pat into a 9 x 13 inch pan .
- Bake 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
- Remove and let cool slightly while preparing the filling.

- Beat together the eggs, yolk, brown sugar, flour, salt, and powder.
- Add in the chopped nuts and cherries.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
- Mix together flour, white sugar and butter or margarine. Mix until crumbly. Press into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Beat eggs, sugar, salt, baking powder, and vanilla. Drain and chop cherries, reserving liquid. Stir chopped cherries, nuts, and coconut into egg mixture. Pour on top of crust.

- Combine 1 teaspoon butter and 1 cup confectioner's sugar with enough liquid from cherries until spreadable. Frost bars. Sprinkle with coconut when icing is set.
