These were my daughters favorite dessert when she was little.It was hard to keep them in the cookie jar for long.They are so moist and chewy for those who love a chewy cookie bar.Hope you enjoy these.The secret is the Butter Flavored Crisco.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup butter flavored crisco
2 eggs
2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups unsifted all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup finely chopped nuts (your choice)
2 teaspoons baking powder

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees;Grease 13x9x2 inch baking pan with butter flavored crisco
  • 2. Beat eggs until light and foamy in large bowl of electric mixer (or use large bowl and hand held electric mixer)
  • 3. Beat in sugar,vanilla and butter flavored crisco until creamy texture
  • 4. Combine flour with baking powder and salt.Add to the egg mixture.Mix at low speed until blended.
  • 5. Stir in the nuts at low speed (mixture will be stiff)
  • 6. Spread evenly in prepared pan.Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until top is light brown.
  • 7. Cool 10-15 minutes.Cut into bars.Makes 2 dozen medium sized or 24 small sized.
  • 8. Store in air tight container.

  • Preheat oven to 350; grease 13x9x2 pan. Beat eggs until light and foamy. Beat in sugar, vanilla, and butter until creamy. Sift together dry ingredients and add to egg mixture. Blend well. Stir in nuts. Spread mixture into pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Cut into bars.

I have had this recipe for quite some time and made it frequently for pot lucks at work when I was employed.

1/2 c margarine or butter flavored shortening, melted
2 eggs
2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 c finely chopped nuts

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease 13x9x2" pan.
  • 2. Beat eggs til foamy. Beat in sugar, vanilla and melted margarine/shortening until creamy.
  • 3. In large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add egg mixture and blend well. Stir in nuts.
  • 4. Spread in prepared pan and bake 20-30 minutes or until light brown. Cool 10-15 minutes. Cut into bars.

  • 7. Spread into 9 x 13" greased baking dish
  • 8. Bake @350 degrees for app 25 min or until top is light golden brown. Cool 10-15 min and cut into bars
