Steps:
- Place the beef in a large pot over medium-high heat and cook until browned, 7 to 10 minutes. Drain off the fat. Add the green peppers and onion and cook, stirring, until they soften slightly and are combined with the beef, a couple of minutes. Add the garlic and stir into the mixture for another minute or so.
- Add the ketchup and 1 cup water and stir to combine. Add the chili powder, brown sugar, dry mustard, red pepper flakes, Worcestershire and hot sauce. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until the sauce has thickened, about 20 minutes.
- Spoon a good amount of the meat on the bottoms of the slider buns. Place a good pinch of the fried onions over the top and place the tops of the buns on the sliders. Serve with the red grapes on the side.
BBQ SLOPPY JOE SLIDERS
For years I just made my Mother's Sloppy Joe recipe. Then one day I decided to try it with some BBQ sauce. My family loved it so well that's the only way they want it fixed. It is super quick and easy to prepare. It goes great with slaw and chips.

Steps:
- Brown ground round; drain off any excess fat. (Ground round is so lean there usually isn't any excess fat).
- Stir in ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard, and onions. Simmer covered on low heat for 10 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent sticking. If your mixture seems too thick, add a little extra BBQ sauce or a Tablespoon or two of water.
- Using heaping Tablespoons put the meat on the buns. Optional: If you prefer, you can mayonnaise the buns first; or simply put the mayonnaise out for everyone to add according to their preference).
SLOPPY JOE SLIDERS
This recipe came from French's (think yellow mustard) website. I plan to make it tomorrow night but wanted to go ahead and get it into one of my cookbooks. I've been looking for a recipe for Sloppy Joes that wasn't sweet and I hope this is it.
