Delicious Stuffed Banana Peppers image

Spicy meets sweet and creamy in these stuffed banana peppers. Makes a great snack or an appetizer for a party. Great for large groups as you can easily control the amount of spiciness. This is one of my favorites!

Time 50m

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 7

toothpicks
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
½ cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
3 cloves garlic, minced, or more to taste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
10 banana peppers
10 slices peppered bacon, or to taste

Steps:

  • Soak toothpicks in water for 15 minutes.
  • Combine cream cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and cilantro in a large bowl. Mix well.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate.
  • Cut a slit lengthwise through each pepper without slicing it in half. Cut another slit about 1/4 inch from the stem across the previous slit, forming a 'T'. Remove seeds, as desired, using a paring knife.
  • Fill each pepper with the cream cheese stuffing mixture using a small spoon. Wrap each pepper with a slice of raw bacon. Slide 1 toothpick through the center of each pepper to hold onto the bacon and keep pepper closed.
  • Grill stuffed peppers for 15 minutes. Turn and cook until bacon is crisp, about 10 minutes more.

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 large banana peppers (choose uniform size)
1 cup whipped cream cheese with chives
4 slices uncooked bacon
6 large jalapeno slices from jar, chopped
2 teaspoons minced garlic
3 tablespoons chopped basil leaves

Steps:

  • 1. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Leave the stems on the peppers. Wash and slit banana peppers carefully, and gently remove seeds and membrane. Make sure the pepper is laying firmly on the counter before you slit the top side lengthwise. If slit properly, the pepper won't tip over when you stuff it, and the filling won't run out of it when it cooks.
  • 2. Place the prepared peppers in the boiling water and set the timer for 5 minutes. Remove the peppers from the boiling water and drain them on paper towels. Wait for a few minutes until they are cool enough to handle.
  • 3. Separate the bacon slices and place between paper towels, and microwave the slices for only one minute. Remove and let cool. This warms the bacon, partially cooks it, and makes it easier to handle. It is also lower in calories.
  • 4. Combine the creamed cheese and chives, minced garlic, chopped basil, and chopped jalapeno peppers. Mix well with a fork.
  • 5. Using a small spoon, stuff the peppers with the cream cheese filling.
  • 6. Wrap the stuffed peppers with the bacon. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line a baking sheet with tin foil and spray with olive oil Pam.
  • 7. Place the peppers on the Pam sprayed, foil-lined baking pan.
  • 8. Bake in the oven until bacon is nicely brown. 25 to 30 minutes. Sprinkle fresh cracked black pepper on the poppers after they are done. Serve and Enjoy!
