ASIAN CILANTRO TILAPIA #RSC

Asian Cilantro Tilapia #RSC image

Ready, Set, Cook! Reynolds Wrap Contest Entry. I'm of a Korean background so the asian flavors of salty, sweet, sesame, ginger, garlic is present. My kids love it and I don't think they realize they're eating 'fish'. They don't need to know as long as they like it and eat it. lol. Using the tilapia is the best cuz of the lightness of the fish. The distinctiveness of the cilantro will give it a great fresh herb taste.

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 15

4 thawed tilapia fillets
6 tablespoons sesame oil (separate in 2 parts so only use 3Tbsp, save the remaining.)
1/2 cup soy sauce (preferably low sodium)
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons water
2 garlic cloves, grated
1 slice fresh ginger, grated (primarily the size of the 2 garlic cloves)
1 whole lemon zest
salt or pepper
1 zucchini (halved vertically and sliced)
1 onion (halved or sliced long)
4 scallions (sliced long on an angle)
1 bunch fresh cilantro (coarsely chopped)
Reynolds Wrap Foil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven 375.
  • Make the marinade. Make sure to only use 3Tbsp of the sesame oil. This should make a little over 3/4cup of sauce but out of that put aside 1/4 cup for the veggies and the rest is needed for the fish.
  • Add in all the veggies and a handful of cilantro in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle in Salt/pepper, LEMON ZEST, 1/4 cup of the marinade and toss. Put to the side.
  • Lay down the REYNOLDS FOIL in the baking dish.
  • Pour the other part of the sesame oil (3Tbsp).
  • Lay the TILAPIA and you can overlap the thinner sides.
  • Pour the remaining part of the marinade over the fish.
  • Spread the veggie mixture covering the fish.
  • Cover the foil but leave a small air pocket.
  • Bake 12--15 minutes.
  • ENJOY by itself or on some rice.

ASIAN TILAPIA IN FOIL

Asian Tilapia in Foil image

Tilapia is popular in many Asian cuisines. Use low-sodium soy sauce to cut back on the sodium, if desired. I wasn't crazy about it, but so far I haven't liked any tilapia recipes--I just don't like the taste of the fish, I guess! The topping is good, though, and I will probably use it with other kinds of fish I do like--like snapper or cod. I did find that it took a lot longer to cook than the recipe originally called for (10-12 minutes at 425* F), so I've updated it. If you are using thin fillets in single layers, you may want to cut back on the heat and time a bit. You can always cook it longer if needed, but you can't un-cook it!

4 (4 -6 ounce) tilapia fillets
2 lemons, thinly sliced
1/4 cup sunflower oil
1/4 cup orange juice
4 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon lemon pepper
1 dash Mexican oregano
4 sheets Reynolds Wrap Foil, 12X12, heavy duty
2 cups long grain rice

1 tablespoon sunflower oil
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
salt
1/2 cup diced onion

1/2 cup fresh corn kernels, cooked
1/2 cup canned black beans, drained and rinsed
1 jalapeno, finely diced
1 dash cumin, ground
1 teaspoon chopped cilantro

Steps:

  • Cook the rice (stove top or rice maker), add the tumeric and salt to the cooking water, the rice will turn a beautiful yellow color. When cooked, let it cool off, can be made ahead.

  • In the meantime, heat a tbsp of oil in a heavy skillet and saute the onions until golden. Add the peppers, corn and jalapeno and cook until soft, Add the rice and black beans and heat through. Season with salt and cumin.
  • To serve, spoon a portion of rice on each plate, lay the fish on top, spoon the accumulated sauce over the fish and rice, garnish with the lemon slices and sprinkle some chopped cilantro over. Enjoy!

Asian Cilantro Tilapia - Valuable Tips for Mastering the Recipe If you are a fan of Asian food and love to experiment in the kitchen, then you must have tried the Asian cilantro tilapia recipe at least once. This dish offers a perfect blend of flavors that you won't find in any other recipe. It's a great way to introduce your taste buds to something new and exciting. However, cooking Asian cilantro tilapia involves a few unique techniques, which means the recipe can be a bit tricky to master. But don't worry, we are here to help you with some valuable tips to make an irresistible Asian cilantro tilapia recipe. 1. Choose the Right Tilapia The first and most crucial step in making an excellent Asian cilantro tilapia dish is choosing the right tilapia. You must get fresh tilapia from a trusted fishmonger or grocery store. Fresh tilapia has smooth skin and is free of any discoloration or smell. Frozen tilapia can also be used, but it should be thawed thoroughly before cooking. 2. Clean the Tilapia Thoroughly Before cooking the tilapia, make sure you clean it thoroughly. Rinse it under cold running water and pat it dry with a paper towel. You can also wipe it with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or bacteria. 3. Marinate the Tilapia Marinating the tilapia adds flavor and helps to tenderize the fish. You must marinate the tilapia for at least 30 minutes before cooking. To make the marinade, you will need vegetable oil, soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, cilantro, and chili flakes. 4. Use High Heat The key to getting a perfect sear on the tilapia is to cook it on high heat. Preheat your pan or grill to high before adding the tilapia. This not only helps to sear the fish but also locks in the juices, making it moist and flavorful. 5. Do Not Overcook Tilapia is a delicate fish that cooks quickly. You must not overcook it, as this can make it dry and rubbery. Cook the tilapia for around 3-4 minutes on each side or until it's cooked through. You can check the doneness by using a fork to make a small incision in the thickest part of the fish. If the flesh is opaque and flakes easily, then it's done. 6. Garnish with Fresh Cilantro The cilantro is one of the main ingredients that give the dish its distinct flavor. You can add a few sprigs of fresh cilantro on top of the tilapia for an extra burst of flavor and aroma. Make sure to chop the cilantro finely to release its flavors. 7. Serve with Rice Asian cilantro tilapia goes very well with rice. You can serve it with steamed white rice or fried rice. The rice not only complements the flavors of the dish but also helps to balance the rich and spicy flavor of the tilapia. In conclusion, cooking the perfect Asian cilantro tilapia recipe requires some attention to detail, but with the right techniques and ingredients, it's a recipe worth mastering. Follow these valuable tips to create a mouthwatering dish that will impress your family and friends.
