The key to making perfect applesauce french toast is to start with stale bread. Fresh bread will not absorb the custard mixture as well, which will result in soggy french toast. The next step is to create the custard mixture, which is made by whisking together eggs, milk, and cinnamon. Applesauce can then be added to the mixture, along with vanilla extract and sugar if desired. The Health Benefits of Applesauce French Toast

By experimenting with different variations, you can create a dish that is unique and flavorful. Whether you are a fan of classic french toast or looking for a healthier alternative, applesauce french toast is sure to be a hit.Tip 1: Use the right bread
The type of bread you use for your applesauce French toast matters a lot. You want to choose a bread that's not too thin or too thick. The ideal thickness for your bread is between half an inch and one inch. This will ensure that your French toast is not soggy or falls apart when you try to flip it. You can choose any bread you like, but the best types of bread for French toast are brioche, challah, or sourdough bread.Brioche bread
Brioche bread is a light, buttery, and fluffy bread that's perfect for French toast. It's a type of bread that's made with eggs, butter, and flour, which makes it rich and flavorful. Brioche bread has a slightly sweet taste, which pairs well with the cinnamon and nutmeg in the French toast.Challah bread
Challah bread is similar to brioche bread in taste and texture. It's a Jewish bread that's made with eggs, sugar, and flour, which gives it a slightly sweet taste. Challah bread is also fluffy and soft, which makes it perfect for French toast.Sourdough bread
Sourdough bread is a type of bread that's made from a sourdough starter, flour, salt, and water. It has a tangy taste that pairs well with the sweetness of the applesauce and the cinnamon in the French toast. Sourdough bread is also sturdy enough to hold up to the egg mixture and won't fall apart when you cook it.Tip 2: Make the applesauce from scratch
While you can use store-bought applesauce for your recipe, making your own applesauce will take your French toast to the next level. Homemade applesauce is easy to make and requires only a few ingredients. You will need apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Peel and core four apples and cut them into small pieces. Add the apples to a saucepan with 1/2 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon each of cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook the apples over medium heat for 15-20 minutes until they're soft. Mash the apples with a potato masher or blend them in a blender until they're smooth.Tip 3: Soak the bread in the egg mixture
To get the perfect French toast, you need to make sure that your bread is soaked in the egg mixture. The egg mixture is made with eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. The eggs are what hold the French toast together and give it its fluffy texture. The milk and vanilla extract add flavor and richness, while the cinnamon gives the French toast a warm and cozy taste. The egg mixture recipe
To make the egg mixture, you will need:- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of milk or cream
- 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
