APPLE PIE MOONSHINE RECIPE - (3.8/5)

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe - (3.8/5) image

Provided by TrayH

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 750ml bottle of 190 proof Everclear, If you can't get Everclear in your state, high proof vodka can work also.
1 About 1 cup of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
1 gallon apple cider
1 quart apple juice
3 cups brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
10 cinnamon sticks
1 large stock pot
6 quart size mason jars

Steps:

  • This recipe comes together very quickly. Simply combine the cinnamon sticks, apple cider, and apple juice in the large stock pot. Bring it all to a mild simmer and add in the sugars. Continue to stir slowly for about five to ten minutes until all the sugar is dissolved. At that point, turn the heat off and allow the apple cider mixture to cool down to room temperature. Allow it several hours to reach a lower temperature. If you add in the alcohol too soon, the higher temperature will evaporate some of the alcohol content. Once the mixture is at room temperature, stir in the bottle of Everclear and one to two cups of rum. At this point, you are ready to jar the apple pie moonshine in the mason jars. Don't be afraid to put a cinnamon stick in the jars either. As the apple pie moonshine ages, the cinnamon and sugar blends out the alcohol taste to an almost undetectable level. Again...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

It can be served heated or chilled. Remember to drink this with caution! For the amount of alcohol in this, you really can't taste how strong it is; it's so smooth! I recommend storing the jars in a dark, cool room.

Apple pie moonshine is a popular alcoholic beverage that is typically made by combining apple juice or cider, sugar, cinnamon, and grain alcohol. The final product is a sweet, flavorful drink that is perfect for sharing with friends and family on special occasions. Making apple pie moonshine can be a bit tricky, but with the right tips and tricks, you can easily create a delicious batch that everyone will love. In this article, we will discuss some valuable tips for making apple pie moonshine recipes without sharing a particular recipe.

Tip #1: Choose the Right Apples

The type of apples that you use when making apple pie moonshine can have a significant impact on the flavor of the final product. Some apple varieties, such as Braeburn, Honeycrisp, and Granny Smith, are more tart and work well in moonshine recipes. Others, like Red Delicious and Fuji, are sweeter and not as well-suited for this type of recipe. It's best to use a combination of apples to achieve the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors. Try to choose apples that are in season and locally grown for the best results.

Tip #2: Use Fresh Ingredients

One of the keys to making great apple pie moonshine is using fresh ingredients. Freshly pressed apple juice or cider will provide a more authentic apple flavor and help to create a richer, more robust beverage. Using fresh cinnamon sticks and vanilla beans can also add depth and complexity to the recipe. Avoid using canned or pre-packaged ingredients as they can be filled with preservatives and artificial flavors that can negatively impact the taste of your moonshine.

Tip #3: Experiment with Spices

The traditional recipe for apple pie moonshine typically calls for cinnamon, but there's no reason why you can't add other spices and flavorings to the mix. Nutmeg, cloves, allspice, and ginger are all great options that can help to create a unique and flavorful moonshine recipe. Be careful not to go overboard with the spices, however, as too much can overpower the other flavors.

Tip #4: Control the Alcohol Content

Moonshine is known for being a potent alcoholic beverage, but it's important to exercise caution when making your own. The alcohol content of your apple pie moonshine will depend on the type of grain alcohol that you use and the ratio of alcohol to other ingredients. It's critical to use a high-quality, pure grain alcohol, such as Everclear, to ensure that your moonshine is safe to drink. You should also keep the alcohol content in check by diluting the final product with apple juice or cider. A good rule of thumb is to aim for an alcohol content of around 20-30%.

Tip #5: Store and Age Properly

Once you've made your apple pie moonshine, it's important to store it properly to ensure that it remains safe and tasty to drink. The alcohol content of moonshine acts as a preservative, but you should still store it in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight. Ageing your moonshine for at least a week can also help to improve the flavor and smoothness of the drink. You can age your moonshine in a Mason jar or other container, and some people even choose to use oak barrels for a more authentic and complex flavor.

Conclusion

Making apple pie moonshine can be a fun and rewarding experience, but it requires careful attention to detail and a willingness to experiment with different ingredients and techniques. By following the tips outlined in this article, you can create a delicious and authentic apple pie moonshine recipe that is sure to impress your friends and family. Remember to start with fresh ingredients, choose the right apples, and control the alcohol content, and you'll be well on your way to creating a perfect batch of moonshine.
