1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
2 egg whites
2 medium apples, chopped (2 cups)
apple, sliced (if desired)
3 tablespoons firm margarine
1 cup quick-cooking oats or 1 cup old fashioned oats
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F degrees.
  • Grease square pan, 9 × 9 × 2 inches.
  • Prepare Oat Streusel; set aside.
  • Beat remaining ingredients except apples in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl frequently.
  • Beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.

1½ cups flour

¾ cup raisons
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
2 tablespoon oil or melted shortening
2 apples, peeled and sliced

Steps:

  • Combine brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Set aside. Spoon flour into measuring cups. Level off and pour into mixing bowl. Add sugar, baking powder, salt, oats and raisons. Stir well. Combine egg, milk and oil. Mix well. Add liquid to dry ingredients, stir until all ingredients are moistened. Do not over mix. Spread batter in greased 9" square cake pan. Cover with apples. Sprinkle topping over apples. Bake at 350º for 45 - 55 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Serve warm.
