16 ounce Betty Crocker Angel Food Cake Mix box {make sure to use the 'just add water' variety}
21 ounces Apple Pie Filling can ({or use homemade Apple Pie filling})
2 tsp. Cinnamon
Optional: Cool Whip for Topping

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large mixing bowl, stir powder cake mix, cinnamon, and pie filling together with a large wooden spoon.
  • Transfer mixture into 9x13 ungreased glass or ceramic baking dish. {Do NOT grease pan}
  • Bake for 30 - 35 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
  • After baking, it is completely normal for your cake to fall in the middle as it cools.
  • Cut into 12 squares, and top with optional whip cream and additional sprinkles of cinnamon on top. ENJOY!

1-1/4 cups large egg whites (about 9)
1-1/2 cups sugar, divided
1 cup cake flour
1-1/4 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Place egg whites in a large bowl; let stand at room temperature 30 minutes. Sift 1/2 cup sugar and flour together twice; set aside. , Place oven rack in the lowest position. Preheat oven to 350°. Add cream of tartar, extracts and salt to egg whites; beat on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining sugar, about 2 tablespoons at a time, beating on high until stiff peaks form. Gradually fold in flour mixture, about 1/2 cup at a time., Gently spoon into an ungreased 10-in. tube pan. Cut through batter with a knife to remove air pockets. Bake until lightly browned and entire top appears dry, 35-40 minutes. Immediately invert pan; cool completely, about 1 hour. , Run a knife around side and center tube of pan. Remove cake to a serving plate.

1 package (16 ounces) angel food cake mix
1 cup water
2/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans, toasted
1 teaspoon apple pie spice
Reduced-fat whipped topping and/or apple slices, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine cake mix and water. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed for 1 minute. Fold in the applesauce, pecans and pie spice., Gently spoon into an ungreased 10-in. tube pan. Cut through batter with a knife to remove air pockets. 1 1/2 cups egg whites (about 12 eggs)
1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup cake flour
1/3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 -4 tablespoons apple juice (or cider)

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, beat egg white,cream of tartar and salt on medium speed until soft peaks form. Add sugar, 2 Tablespoons at a time, beating well after each addition; beat until smooth and glossy and stiff peaks form. Add extracts on low speed. Combine 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar and flour; gently fold into egg mixture. Pour into an ungreased 10-in tube pan. Bake on the lowest rack at 375 degrees for 35-40 mins or until top crust is golden brown and cracks feel dry. Immediately invert cake in pan to cool completely. Loosen saides of cake from pan and remove. For glaze, melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in the 2 cups confectiorners' sugar and cinnamon. Add apple juice alowly until glaze is thin enough to dizzle. Drizzle over cake.

5 Courtland apples, peeled cored and thinly sliced
1 (12-ounce) can citrus soda
1 1/2 cups water
1 stick unsalted butter
1/3 cup light brown sugar
1/3 cup molasses
3/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup apple brandy
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup raisins
1 (10-inch) store-bought angel food cake

Steps:

  • Place apples in large bowl with 1 can soda and 1 1/2 cups water. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat melt butter. Add brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup, cinnamon and salt. Stir until sugar has dissolved and starts to simmer. Add apple brandy, pecans, raisins and apples. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for about 15 minutes or until apples are tender and liquid has reduced to a syrupy consistency.
  • Slice angle food cake into wedges and top each slice with apple mixture.

21 oz. apple pie filling
1 angel food cake mix
(use the "one step" kind that only requires adding water)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease or spray 13" x 9" pan or baking dish with 'Pam' or equivalent cooking spray.
  • 2. Combine pie filling with dry cake mix (do not add water). Spread in prepared pan.
  • 3. Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 20 min., or until cake part is no longer damp. Top should be lightly browned.
  • 4. Cool a little while and cut into 16 portions. Serve with ice cream if desired.
  • 5. NOTE: You can substitute any flavor of pie filling for the apple, depending on your tastes.
