Air fryers are a great kitchen gadget that can help you make healthier and tasty meals. One of the most popular recipes made with an air fryer is the air fryer taco twists. These twists are a great snack or meal, and they can be made with a variety of ingredients. In this article, we'll share some valuable tips for making air fryer taco twists recipes that are sure to be a hit with your family and friends.

1. Use lean meat

One of the biggest benefits of using an air fryer is that it can help you make healthier meals by reducing the amount of oil you need to cook with. However, if you're making air fryer taco twists, it's important to use lean meat. This will help to reduce the amount of fat in your recipe and make it healthier overall. The best type of meat to use for air fryer taco twists is ground turkey or chicken. These types of meat are leaner than beef and will still give you the same great flavor.

2. Season your meat well

Another important tip for making air fryer taco twists is to season your meat well. The meat is the star of the show in this recipe, so you want to make sure it's properly seasoned. You can use any type of taco seasoning you like, or you can make your own by combining chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Be sure to mix the seasoning into the meat well and let it marinate for at least an hour before cooking.

3. Choose the right tortillas

The tortillas you use for your air fryer taco twists are also important. You want to choose a tortilla that's sturdy enough to hold all of your ingredients but not too thick that it won't cook properly in the air fryer. Corn tortillas work well for this recipe, but you can also use flour tortillas if you prefer. Just be sure to heat them up and soften them before you fill them so that they don't break when you try to fold them.

4. Add a variety of toppings

One of the great things about air fryer taco twists is that you can add a variety of toppings to customize them to your liking. Some popular toppings include shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, chopped onions, sliced jalapeños, and avocado. You can also add a dollop of sour cream or guacamole to give your taco twists a creamy texture. Just be sure to add your toppings after the twists are cooked so that they don't burn in the air fryer.

5. Don't overfill your tortillas

When making air fryer taco twists, it can be tempting to stuff as much filling as possible into each tortilla. However, if you overfill the tortillas, they won't cook properly in the air fryer. Instead, be sure to leave some space around the edges so that the twists can cook evenly. This will also make it easier to fold the tortilla into the twist shape without breaking.

6. Preheat your air fryer

Preheating your air fryer is an important step when making air fryer taco twists. This will ensure that your twists cook evenly and have a crispy exterior. Most air fryers will take around 3-5 minutes to preheat, so be sure to factor this into your cooking time.

7. Brush your twists with oil

While air fryers use less oil than traditional frying methods, it's still important to brush your twists with a little bit of oil before cooking. This will help to ensure that they cook evenly and have a crispy exterior. You can use any type of oil you like, but avocado oil or olive oil work well.

8. Cook in batches

Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook your air fryer taco twists in batches. It's important not to overcrowd your air fryer so that the twists can cook evenly. If you try to cook too many at once, they may end up sticking together or not cooking properly.

9. Keep an eye on your twists

Air fryers cook food quickly, so it's important to keep an eye on your taco twists while they're cooking. You don't want them to burn or become too crispy. Check on them periodically and flip them halfway through the cooking time to ensure that they cook evenly.

10. Serve immediately

Air fryer taco twists are best served immediately after cooking. This will ensure that they're still warm and crispy. If you need to reheat them, you can do so in the air fryer for a few minutes until they're heated through.

Conclusion

Air fryer taco twists are a delicious and healthy recipe that's easy to make in an air fryer. By following these valuable tips, you can ensure that your twists come out perfectly every time. Be sure to experiment with different ingredients and toppings to find your favorite combination.
